Well you already know that I like the idea of using 3D to portray 2D... but back then that was a largely unexplored area for even large game developers. Then, even while cool, you have to wonder... what's the point? Would it offer the drastic change needed to justify 2D > 3D? Especially if it was just remaking a server like Classic. Wouldn't it all just feel way too familiar way too fast? I wouldn't object to it, but I think if they were to experiment with 3D, they'd try actual 3D first.
