They can be taught.
The baes's large feet carry a device that strongly increases waters surface tension along with propelling you slightly with gusts of air to keep you from falling into the water. Thus these devices feet being so large. They also carry a sonogram in the body part of the baes that cleverly warns off all large predators. Eg. Those large fish I was talking about
