Quitting isn't the problem at all.
When you press ESC, a little window comes up asking if you really want to quit. While this window is open, basically Graal is 'paused', no packets are sent to the client(according to what was posted earlier). This can cause a few different problems, so he implemented this to stop people from abusing this unforeseen side-effect. It has nothing to do with people quitting Graal.

And Andrew, while some are coming off insulting, this doesn't really invalidate the criticism. Just because it gets the job done doesn't mean it's the best solution, as a scripter you should know this better than anyone. I think a few good ideas have been posted here, maybe some things to think about.
