Links need to be approved, but why?

Why do links needs to be approved especially links to safe sites such as cnn, best buy, walmart, or w/e the heart desires but is a well known site? I go on many forums and no other forums forces it's members to get their links approved. Yet there is little abuse of people trying to post porn and viruses. If that is what the mods are afraid of, why not like i said have links to trusted sites be okay to be auto approved. If someone links to CNN, or youtube, the site won't show anything legal as it's moderated and written by the people who own these sites.

Well you see...

> If I posted a link, right now, to say... an inappropriate site(NSFW). It will stay here until mods get around to deleting it. Because it's against the rules to do so.
>Now, if it wasn't against the rules to post links, and I say... posted a link to the same site(which is still NSFW). It'd stay here until the mods came around and deleted it.

So ya, either way it ends up the same. Regardless of if there is a rule or not, the link will remain in the post until a mod deletes it.

Apparently mods are eh-scared to open links, so therefor do not want to even bother checking a link and just want to delete it. Even though I can PM for approval and they have to open the link anyways.

So ya, try to wrap your brain around this.

I had this thought in my mind as well, but as you can tell from most of my posts, i can't seem to organize my thoughts into a well structured post. So thanks for doing it for me. :)

Ask unixmad, he spontaneously decided to add the rule one day.

Because these forums are for Graal. Appropriate links can be put in the Lounge freely.
