sound for events!

When we are doing something else, and when if we are connected on graal, one can not know if he has an event on graal, what I demand it is of added a special sound when he has an event.

Good idea. I support.

Could also do it like Era, the NPC Server sends you a pm each time a ET calls a event, so you can see the graal icon flash and you check whats the event =P

RevolutionJS 03-21-2009 04:43 PM

Nice Idea, and I dont think its hard to script.

is correct.
its like adding play("soundfile/url"); to the function that displays the window.

Connect to graal..? Or zone. If graal, I doubt everyone that plays wants to know zone is having event.

For zone. 1 Sound? Like a bell ringing once? What's the good in that if i'm away for a bit while I log on. I know people that play with no noise as well.

Don't they have that blue box gui thingy in the bottom left corner that should tell you? Or if use your head and look at the amount of people on a planet, since most people follow events.

I hate closing them PMs when I get them, it's annoying.

He means that when you arent watching the client.

for example:

You're doing your homework on a Word document and suddenly a futuristic ringing noice is heard, you know know that there's a event active on Zone, so you minimize your homework, maximize Zone and play it =D

bahamutstevetff 03-21-2009 09:02 PM

errr...i beleive theres a big window that appears on your screen indicating that an event is taking place an warps you too it...thats notification enough.

MiniOne 03-22-2009 01:25 AM

If your not paying attention to zone then you shouldn't be able to go in the event.

Who actually plays zone with sound? I hate the annoying shooting sounds and doors opening and warping.
I think the announcement of an event is enough, as well as the setting of a warp.

I do, since it's hard to play a shooting game(server in this case) without hearing if someone is shooting @ you.

Realy, this isn't that important to be scripted right now. It'd be something to add on later when zone has a steady playercount. For the scripting done, how many players would actually use this and be happy that it was added compared to how many would not even bother to use it/not appreciate it being added.

Same. But I know alot of people that play/played that are the exact opposite and hate the noises.

In this you can see if someones shooting at you, unless of course its a sniper, I only use sound in 3d FPS where you only have one field of vision.

RevolutionJS 03-22-2009 11:33 AM

Dont put that new sound on the SFX thing at f3..
I always put that off because all the shooting sounds make me onconcetraded at my Homework..

Novice 03-22-2009 05:46 PM

This would be a really cool feature, but only if you are on that server.
I doubt someone playing Unholy Nation would like to know that there's an event on Zone, and vice-versa. (This way would have to be scripted into the client, and not in an NPC script.)
But if you wanted this added for if you're playing on a server and want to know if that server is having an event, then yes, this could EASILY be scripted.
