MySQL for NPC-Server
I've always been lamenting about how I need some kind of unified database system to organize all the stuff on Valikorlia. So as I worked on the new Approvals Database for the server I had the sudden thought:
This thread is a request for a MySQL server on the same computer that hosts the Playerworld itself that can be accessed by script. Having the MySQL server on the same computer as the NPC-Server is a requirement for obvious reasons. Also the database file(s) should be accessible with the file browser for easy backup or modification. If this is not feasible due to communication time between the NPC-Server and MySQL or some other reason, then perhaps adding database features to the NPC-Server itself would be a better idea. Edit: Inverness thinks SQLite is a better idea now :D |
MySQL would be perfect for monitoring/managing stuff :O I agree

Well you could just take a sqlite db too which could run along the gservers (doesnt take alot of processor time afaik)

Maybe there is some opensource SQL code out there that Stefan can glue onto the NPC-Server. |
Graal already supports mysql, but the setup for each server would be too much work, so it would make more sense to also add sqlite support. Skyld said he could script a browser for it so that you can watch the data easily.

SQLite sounds better now that I've looked at it. So do you plan on adding it to the NPC-Server?
It looks like something you could do without having to update client so I hope its added soon. |

EDIT: Also, couldn't help thinking of this: http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...ad.php?t=74504 |
Ya, never ask for an ETA around here, it's better to just never expect it.
