Word Censor

This thing seems to be broken, because in addition censoring words (and I can find many bad words in several posts that were not censored!), it is also banning users. I think the technical error behind this should be investigated immediately.

Oh my.
Thanks for the warning, I was going to use the A word to describe pin the tail on the donkey at my next birthday party.

What are you talking about?

Mark Sir Link 07-18-2008 11:33 PM

Well I was assuming the word filter was giving automated bans because of something I recently witnessed.

I could be mistaken though.

You are mistaken. The infraction system gives auto bans.

Mark Sir Link 07-18-2008 11:37 PM

does the word filter give infractions even after it censors words? I'm unsure of how this works.

Tigairius 07-18-2008 11:38 PM

Moderators give infractions. If you have too many infractions within a certain time you get automatically banned.

What? The filter filters words. We give infractions. Look up the infraction info and read it. The sensoring has nothing to do with any auto ban.

wait, why is there a word filter then if people will get banned for using words that get censored anyway?

People get banned for evading the swear filter.

They also get banned for filtering their own words, I did.

Mark Sir Link 07-18-2008 11:50 PM

pulling a post at random from a random user then, something like this wouldn't warrant an infraction since the word filter was not evaded then?

Filtering their own words, you mean putting asterisks instead of the real word?

Reading the forum rules might help answer some of your questions:
