Gelat Payment by SMS (SWE)

Every time I try sending an SMS to 72720, it says that it could not be sent.

"SMS: Send AP to 72720 (30.00 SEK)"

Any clues as too why?

Arch_Angel 01-02-2008 04:20 AM

Mine did the same. But I think it was just a restriction on my phone

How does the SMS payment system work? You text them and they charge you? o.o

Can I set it up so when someone texts me, they are charged $30 which goes directly to me?

Hmm, I actually stumbled onto something like that earlier on today, google reverse sms billing.

It should work fine, other people have used the SMS thing from sweden with success. But it's possible that your mobile phone provider is not supporting premium SMS. Normally you send the SMS, and then you get a premium SMS which is billed on your phone bill. In some countries you get a verification message which you need to answer, to make sure that you actually wanted the premium SMS.

I have one of the latest cell phones released, with a no-limit SIM-card. Heck, I even have broadband on my phone. I tried using my old crappy cell phone too, and my moms AND my friends cell phone - everytime it said that it could not be sent, as if the number was invalid.

The phones I tried from have different operators, but they all had the two biggest providers in Sweden - 3 (yes, three) and Telia.

Exactly. Money simply gets removed from your phone SIM-card.

Impossible to my knowledge.

Would this work with an iPhone? I'm pretty sure the SIM works differently than most phones, but not sure.

Worked with iphone in france yes.
Can eventually check with people for who it already worked to see if it's broken for them too.

I'm 99% sure it would work on any phone able to send text messages. If it's a refill card though, make sure you got enough money on it before trying to send the message >_<

Great, because I'm telling ya, it is NOT working at the moment. It's like the number is invalid, because I got the same result by just typing a random 5 digit SMS payment system. (thank god I didn't accidentally find a valid number and pay for something by mistake..)

I'll try this for my next upgrade, not sure when that'll be.

Stefan, this STILL doesn't work, at least not for Swedish people. I've tried it with 3 other phone's using 2 different operators since I last posted. The same error is given each time, the number doesn't exist.

Admins 03-11-2008 01:37 AM

Well we receive almost each day payments from Sweden, so I'm not sure where the problem exactly is. It's recommended to not try again if it's not working, to avoid further problems (it doesn't bill the premium SMS though if you don't receive a code). Payment with credit card is recommended, it gives more subscription time / gelats.

Okay, sooo... I tried this out again.

Now it works to send the SMS unlike before, but, you don't get a SMS sent back and no money is charged.

I've bought gelats in this way before for quick subscription upgrades, and the whole TXT'ing thing worked fine, but for some reason, now when I send the message, I never get a reply.

Any ideas?

You are also from Sweden?

You are the owner of these forums. Check his IP and do a WhoIs scan on it?

Edit: Or use one of those tools that tells you the rough location by just looking at the first few digits.

Rufus 06-19-2008 03:01 PM

There is no number for the USA? Not sure if that's already been addressed, but I know someone wanted to buy some gelats through SMS the other day and couldn't as there was no number.

No, nor have I ever been.

But the SMS worked for me at some point, now it doesn't.

Admins 06-20-2008 04:56 PM

Phone and SMS for USA are back :)

Clockwork 06-22-2008 04:13 AM

Yay....another way for me to pay! ^_^

xXziroXx 07-08-2008 05:56 PM

Seriously, I won't be able to resubscribe (this month anyways) if this isn't "fixed", and I've only got 3 days left. It's not my phone that's the issue, I've used it to pay for countless of SMS services from other companies and never had a problem.

If it'd help you locate the problem (assuming there is one, and I'm damn sure about it) I wouldn't mind to help, if you told me how.
