Heard a rumor, tried something out...excuse me, but why did you disable the option to choose your own account name? Not sure if you can maybe choose it when buying a subscription, I just made a trial account. But thats not though out too well.
I mean, if it stays like that even if you buy a subscription, what about the damn forums?o.O

Well I wanted to change my account name last time I had to upgrade but all the good account names are gone anyway.

They should delete any account names which haven't been used in a year and don't have any subscription or lifetime classic.

Seems kinda stupid if you can't even choose an account name now.

edit: Actually it looks like email addresses are account names now.

Log on, you will get Graal<pcid> as an account if I didnt misunderstand that.

The only thing about accounts i want changed is being able to have more than one account for a e-mail. Because i have two accounts and i don't like logging on different e-mails to check stuff for it. Sounds lazy but you know it stinks having to create a new e-mail if you want a new account. Just saying !

But yeah, it seems a very bad idea to remove the ability to chose your own account name and to replace it with your email...

i was killing that guy on zone. ive been seeing loads of people called "graal963958" etc...whats the deal?

I think the point of it is to centralize the database and user name system. Maybe right now it doesn't mean anything but in the future we will see why everything ties to our email instead of account.

The only issue is if you run a playerworld and account off the same email, How will you login?

People who login as 'Guest' on the client need some form of identification. Thus it uses pcid.

You can choose your community name in the profile on the website. That community name is displayed on the playerlist and is used for the forums and wiki.

I know, I know...but I think the overall idea is not good, because you have no damn idea who the hell is who if you are checking accounts. Like you hover over one of the 14 'unknown's in your friendlist to check who you actually wanna meet and 6 of them actually say something like Graal123456 or pc:123456...thats just not cool o.O

The community name is the account name. From what I understand, the community name is what will appear in the playerlist and such when it's been set.

That would be good, but its said you can change it at any time (?), so that sounds a bit impossible.

i used to think all lazy like that but then i made a greenshard acc email my bros editeed version of gmail and i have greenshard forward to gmail because i only check gmail

This is wrong. Setting your personal community name on the website changed the forum name and thats the only change I see so far. I can't check myself on the playerlist either.

Also when you right click to view your profile you still get Graal123456. The only difference the community name makes is it changes your name on the forum.

How in gods name am I supposed to keep track of who is who on GK now?? The Kingdom leaders go by account names to remember others you know.. Not some bloody number.

It doesnt show their creativity.. atleast let them choose a real account name as a bonus for when they upgrade...

The community name is a bonus kind of...
Will try to fix that problem with the kingdoms system on Kingdoms, it should use the community name not the account name.

If you fix the kingdom stuff, you could also completely replace the community names with the account names, or bring normal account names back...

yeah just let people be able to choose their own account names again.. this is stupid unless we find out soon that your doing it for a reason.

And so every one of hte 500 + members currently ranked in the kingdoms would then have to be redone. The account names USED to be the most stable way to track and ID anyone on GK. Now I have no idea who is who with these damned numbers. Makes it even harder to keep an eye on who is running around and being active, because thats how we're supposed to give rank promotions. By knowing the people, not a bloody number...

Do a favour, IF you change the way we keep track of people on GK, make it so they can't change it. It destroys their join date which means something to my own self..

For the old accounts community name is equal to the account name

Just as long as they can't change it and cause problems I won't care. I would like a stable name to remember though, not some ID that can be renamed

What about new accounts? Can you change the account name on your profile? Or are we stuck with Graal######?

Lol.. I know. I changed my community name on the website and as you can see my forum name is what I changed it to. I mean how you appear when you right click in-game. It's still Graal674779.

Yes, but you can email unixmad and get it changed.

The account name cannot be changed. The account name should normally not appear in the game, only the community name.

2nd, useless. If it doesnt appear anywhere, why would you need it?

I disagree entirely with changing the name used for GK....

Its simple, you change community name, then all of a sudden your kingdom thinks your someone else.. I vote NO... bad idea.. account names (NOT NUMBERS) have been much easier to keep track of.

These numbers are hideous, even more so the PC ##### thing I see randomly running around. If Observer mode wasnt bad enough, I'd never join the game because I want an account NAME not number.... Your just lucky I have an older account with a name still. Just don't go changing that on me too now...

I suppose being around since about 2001 has got me to like account names... sort of like an old habbit really. These numbers make me feel out of place, as if I was in a different game entirely. Not to mention your website is another peice of overhead that can cause yet more problems, usually as it likes to crash and fail to respond alot.

Well atm people are getting confused on RC with what name they should be using for my rights etc.

My community name is chrizp2p which shows up on the playerlist but my account name when right clicking my profile is graal674779.

I can see why they get confused and things go wrong alot.

I think this needs to be sorted out. Scrap the new account names.

They also make me feel out of place as reobrn said.. you see an account with Graal###### and automatically think theyre a noob and you dont get given chances.

Actually when I see Graal###### I do think they are trials but usually check their profiles then I think they are scammers. Quite a few of these new accounts have scammed people and nothing is being done about it. Frankly Stefan we need the GP's back. I don't care what Bjorn says..bring back the GP's. GK needs them back badly.

I'm not even talking about GK at the moment..in general on a whole we just need to scrap them compeltely and use actual account name which you can choose. It's stupid and extremely awkward using this new system for new accounts.

And what will GP's do to get players items back? There is not reason to have GP's. If players just don't lend their items and use trade tables correctly!
