I still think you need to increase the contrast on the tileset/gfx... it really would take less than a few hours of work and would improve the server a lot. I've already did an example of this a while ago and it just lets the Graal characters fit the area a lot better.

Is that Oasis influence I see or maybe my eyes are decieving me... (the inside tiles)

It's because they don't blackline the tiles. It'd be simple to make them look better in less than an hour with a simple brightness/contrast adjustment in Photoshop or Gimp, although perhaps some tiles would need specific adjustments.

No not really... Using a black outline on those tiles would just make it even weirder... All they have to do is up the contrast on the whole tileset until it better matches the characters. There isn't any individual tilework needed. They basically made the entire tileset and all of the graphics in a certain contrast. I had the same problem with Oasis... every thing looks faded. At first I thought "well it's kind of unique being faded" but then when I tried messing with the contrast in a snapshot I was like "holy crap, it looks a lot better with more vibrant colors!".

To put it bluntly... it makes everything feel more alive.

Yea, we tried black outlines some months ago, didnt look good :P

Shakram 01-07-2007 02:33 PM

looks ugly when you use a bigger contrast on the esteria tiles
has a lot to do with the color choice and tile design
but ok i will try it
