Impersonations.

It has come to be that people like to impersonate me and other global staff to gather passwords and such.

As graal staff, we do not ask for your passwords, ever. Why? Because when we change your passwords we cannot see what the password is. So why do we actually need your password?

Secondly, if someone has the name Nemesis, if the account name isn't Nemesis....Then I can bet you 10 times out of 10 it isn't me, so why trust that person? It is hard to enforce the rule, so frankly people need to wise up.

I do not do ANY graal work without being on RC, if I am not on RC, I do not do anything because it is like I am not working. I help people still but I do not change any information, or request anything from anyone. So if you see a global pressuring you for something, chances are that person is a fake and needs to be reported so it can be taken care of asap. Thank you and hopefully people can help one another and make announcements so people aren't falling victims to this.

Thanks.

someone with the mail "[email protected]" e-mailed me asking for my password. I sent it to them, then I looked at my inbox.. then I remembered his e-mail is "@graalonline.com" and "graal.net" was the free e-mail. So I went and changed my password :p in the mail they said they were checking for inactive accounts and they needed everyone to send them back their accs + passwords.

Whenever people ask for passes on anything that they shouldnt I always give them my account name and then a fake password, so they waste their time :P

Oops, I ment to spell it 'unixmad.' But, the only thing that gave it away for me was the 'graal.net' mail.

melissa1988 03-21-2003 12:59 AM

Actually... anyone can make their send address show up as that, and make their replyto address their email address, and presto, suckers are formed.

I know exactly what you're talking about Nemesis, the newbie staff at Babylon always call me Nemesis and I go off my head and say "do you think If I had global RC and was the classic PW's GM, do you honestly think i'd be here?"

i think that anyone who would ever NEED your pass... would have access to it
=X
(graalonline staff and such)

but impersonation can be a problem... someone once impersonated me on G2K1, so they could get votes for a fake (DK) tag.... anyways, MadWolf, i'm glad nothing too bad happened
:)
