To help new players

Era's walk speed system is a serious disadvantage to new players.

The first question they always ask is whats the best way to make money, 90% of the time we tell them to pick trash. BUT to pick trash and make decent money you need to run around the server and avoid people trying to kill the noobs.
Picking up a bunch of trash / shells/ rocks just makes you stupidly heavy unless you have a lightweight potion thats unrealistic to new players at 20k each

Right now on era my inventory is considered light at the moment and still i'm at 583/180 weight and 180/12 volume.

i think we should just delete that whole volume and weight system for your inventory and just make Eras walkspeed 1.08 default and not drop.

Lightweight pots will still be valued because everyone will still want the bonus to get 1.13

TLDR:
delete the volume and weight systems and default walk speed to 1.08 to help the noobs

And make houses and lockers completely useless in the process?

Elk 03-09-2015 10:18 AM

they should be happy to still have their shells after they died

i remember losing money on death a couple of years ago, ATM's had a use

youd hire bodyguards to protect you on the way to the bank

Yeah, you can't baby the new players either. I remember starting anew and players trying to come and kill me, as soon as I got any guns they were no longer a problem. Then again, I was hardly an inexperienced player. The difficulty curve for new players is my favorite aspect of Era.

They can buy potions from the store for a few bucks. And theres potions in the mall going for $12000.

Money has increased a lot in todays economy and i think the prices should have increased for everything else. I think with them being high priced makes them get active more to work harder to get $$ to afford the things they need.

a house is useless for me because i have so much stuff if i drop a single hat or gun i have to buy a strength potion to pick it back up

so i don't know how it would make them useless seems like it would make them more beneficial

At least make a minimum speed of like 0.8 so people can manage to scrape together cash to get a LW without being a complete sitting duck

Supaman771 03-09-2015 05:24 PM

I remember when I bought all the potions in the mall and people said I was crazy.

Whats the profit margin on about 1200 potions at 1.5k each?

Walk speed system needs an overhaul in general but getting rid of it completely is not the answer.

Eclipse 03-09-2015 07:01 PM

walk system is fine, the weight / carrying system needs the overhaul

Godzilla 03-09-2015 09:11 PM

Houses are still used as a basis for people to share items with one another, that's the only use I have ever used them for, never to make my weight less, only wayyyyy back in the day maybe but I feel like the use for a house changed a long time ago.

Tim_Rocks 03-09-2015 09:39 PM

I do agree that something needs to be changed. Personally I've always just made it so the system never actually affected me.

the forums are more entertaining then the actual game. nuff said.

era isn't about appealing to new players, it's about keeping the current player base happy.

shrimps 03-11-2015 12:19 AM

Wait.... I thought everything they've been doing is catering to the newer players? To me it just seems everything is becoming easier to acquire.
