GuiBrowserCtrl

Saw this via /scripthelp, can't for the life of me figure how to actually use it. Attempted to have as subcontrol of a window, scrollfield, and just on it's own but couldn't seem to get it to work.

Has anyone used this before?

Gunderak 08-01-2011 11:06 AM

I belive they use it on Unholy Nation Press shift+z if i recall correctly.
As of how to make it? im not sure..
maybe this will help :3

You mean their forums? That's just a bunch of GUIs, not some kind of browser.

It's just a place holder for now, might remove it in a future version.

Aw.

Mark Sir Link 08-31-2011 12:38 AM

Is there any chance you could actually add it instead of remove it?

Can think of several things that would be moderately useful with this feature

Gunderak 08-31-2011 09:48 AM

i doubt it would be added, other was some "bad people" may set the URL to explicit images.

the people who could do that could just as easily throw a dirty image into a showimg on the clientside so I don't really see what additional threat is created.

Can you say what some of these might be because I don't see the point in a GuiBrowserCtrl that could quickly get out of date compared to just using openURL and displaying the content in the player's choice of browser.

If it's just to display your own generated HTML content, it would probably be better to add support for the features/tags you want to use in GuiMLTextCtrl.

Mark Sir Link 08-31-2011 09:16 PM

it is more for offloading Unholy Nation's forum into a phpBB so that it can be accessed in game as well as out. I agree that opening it in an external browser is superior to what is currently used.

bump

GUI controls feel vastly outdated in this Web 2.0 world and there's so many tools available to build forms and UIs

It'd be fantastic to make UI building easier to people who have already gotten a ton of experience with HTML, XHTML and creating CSS rather than using the extremely clunky and inflexible GUIs we've had to settle with

Unholy Nation's forums are scripted using SQL to store forum data I believe. Definitely not a browser control
