Sounds with 64-bit OS

As the title implies, my sound did not work by default (tried on GK).

The reason - "game_config" (opened in wordpad) had the option "tryloadsoundson64bit=false" and it was simply resolved by changing the latter part of the string to "true".

This can cause new players to leave if they can't fix it, especially if they don't know someone else that can help them do so! Why is it this way to begin with? I see no conflicts since I manually made the change.

Please set this to "true" by default.

Would this affect use still using 32-Bit systems though?

I agree that it should be set by default (maybe only if Graal detects the operating system as 64 bit). I've told many people how to fix it while being FAQ on Graal Kingdoms and most of them have had the problem for a long time before I helped them fix it.

agreed, this is a very important fix when graal got no sounds.

For the benefit of anyone who found this thread by searching and is clueless, this may help.

I definitely agree with the original poster. 64-bit is quickly moving to main-stream computing, so it only makes sense to try to load sound by default.

Auto-detecting OS sounds like a good idea. Even if this is not possible - it isn't hard to add one more screen to the install file that let's the player specify their OS.

Hey to you too, Tig :P

This thread really helped me out, I've had this PC for almost a year now and was very clueless on how to get my sounds working. :D

i help people fix this issue almost on a daily basis, so i'd imagine the time to correct this is now.
