Client Widgets
I think it would be really neat if we could script "widgets" that would stay with us from server to server. Obviously security would be a big issue with this, because you don't want widgets interfering with local server scripts, perhaps a GS2 Widget Language could be introduced or just have them moderated.
This could open the doors to cross server interaction with things like GIM, Global In-game Forums, or other small aesthetic features and so on. |
It'd be hard to do something like this, you couldn't allow players to run their own widgets, for example, because it would let them disable every clientside script on any server.

Or use the login server and it will be work the same way was 'shared' is?

Seconded. neat idea
Possibly use gs2 with restricted scope and reach: window/gui data and possibly reading the players stack. That should solve the security hole issue. |
Would be cool to beable to make your own custom chat gui ;[

This does sound pretty neat. Now only if you could send voice clips over through PMs like on MSN. Would be creepy, and interesting idea from me but i like this idea.

Could make it so everything is read-only, and the only vars/objects that can be changed is in the script itself.

I wrote a widget language but it'd probably be criticized for being inefficient and such, maybe I'll clean it up and release it.

Things that should be client widgets would probably be things like.
Tailor (Servers that have custom tailors/bodies would have a switch to disable it.) MP3/Radio player (Servers that have custom sounds/music could would have a switch to disable it.) Chat-Room (Basically the same thats already accessible.) Actually what else would be allowed for a generic widget 0.o? Maybe a universal kill/death counter? Player Checker (Checks a players stats on any selected server that wished to be joined in. IE: If your on era you could check someones stats on Zodiac and see their level of last log on/equipment. If your on Zodiac you could check what an era person has.) Mainly it would be up to what the servers would want you to be able to see. (Would require them to make their own attachment only showing what they want you to see.) |
One of the best ideas I've read.

Nice idea, i hope this is considered for the future.
