Has there ever been a successful playerworld that didn't use default bodies/heads?

I was wondering this since as I recall there's never been one, so I started thinking that perhaps using different bodies/heads actually hurts a server (players not wanting to play a server if they can't use the look they're used to, or something).

Well, Archaic was promising but MarkB and Blookat never followed through.

Project Mythic is one to look out for. I think they have the best custom sprites/animations I've seen on Graal.

I don't think it literally hurts the playerworld. I think what happens if the server expects custom sprites and because it is such a hard thing to be done, is never accomplished, and the server just stagnates waiting for them. Not only that... but has there been hardly any successful playerworlds?

I've been involved in so many failed ones that I have lost track

Most of the time, when someone makes custom sprites, they look extremely unprofessional. The reason we put up with Graal's sprites is because we've known them forever.

I think the reason Graal's work is because in the end they're just copies on Zelda sprites... which everybody knows and hardly ever complains about.

Also a lack of selection. Characters look too similar when forced onto a new set of graphics and it'll never beat the wide range available from years of people adding to the collection!

Archiac used 2k2 bodies since it was a promising gold server,That really shouldn't count as there own bodies.

Thanks for the support! :)

I prefer custom bodies when it comes to making ganis because the classic body is so limited.

DustyPorViva 04-09-2008 07:55 PM

I wonder how limited the classic body would be if someone took it and separated the arms and feet from the body.

Not nearly as limited but there still is way more you can often do with custom sprites.

DustyPorViva 04-09-2008 08:30 PM

Of course! :P
But, if I'd ever go through the trouble of breaking apart the default bodies, I'd be sure to add in anything else I needed as well.
