Is it worth it?

Is it worth upgrading my subscription to play GK again?
If so, why?
If not, why not?
Currently I don't play at all, so "more features than trial" won't cut it.
And I don't have many items left. Maybe a very basic setup of armour/weapon, no rings. My levels(wisdom>phys>mag) aren't so bad either.

Edit: Might as well discuss a full-upgrade package as well since I tend to get those (as oppose to GK alone). Wait, are those even available anymore? Or would I have to buy each subscription individually now (zone, GK, PW's)?

Edit2: I had stopped playing some months ago. Probably before the summer. Just so you all get an idea of how things were when I stopped playing (probably around the time the population began to grow again)

xAzerothx 10-01-2008 06:24 PM

Are you trying to be funny?

Ziro_of_the_Turks 10-01-2008 06:29 PM

No.

Are you trying to kill my thread?

(now I'm trying to be funny)

Edit: If I were to use some sort of point system to decide whether or not to play GK, you just put -points on the list :( ... for community at least

Single packages doesn't exist anymore, you select predefined packages of gelats that you use in-game for subscription (one month at a time, renews automatically if you have gelats) or various items such as cards.

Crono 10-01-2008 07:22 PM

I'd say no.

Elizabeth 10-01-2008 09:01 PM

No.

2. You have to make your own clothes.
3. Upgrading is ex-pens-ive.
4. GK is dead.
5. When it isn't dead, it's just noobs.
6. Your subscription will get messed up, and you'll get stuck in obs mode.
7. Theres nothing fun on it anymore due to its death - Kingdom events, kingdom wars, ship battles, RPing, etc.
8. Even if it does come to life again, it'll only be alive for about less than a week.
9. You probably won't even end up playing it- Hello inactivity.

cbk1994 10-01-2008 10:04 PM

You have to buy a "gold subscription" which includes all servers (GK, Zone, Classic, Hosted, UC, etc). There is no "Graal Kingdoms" anymore.

I like this, actually

Not compared to other games.

I doubt this problem is as common as it seems. I've never encountered it, and I don't really know anyone as a friend who has encountered it.

People like you kill the inspiration of the game developers.

No it's not. Maybe for kids like you who still ask mom and dad for money, I wouldn't know.

During the past week there's been two Kingdom events which Dustari won, even though Zormite and Pirates were providing heavy resistance.

Stop being so ignorant.

I like how Elizabeth, who I've seen online ONCE the past two/three weeks, can make such well informed claims.

WarLord2004 10-01-2008 10:22 PM

Actually if the prices don't change it would stay the same... Reason being so when kingdoms first was released it was one of the Top servers. Now it's dead as Classics..

Once in a blue moon you would see 20+ players which isn't even enough for a huge playerworld like Kingdoms...

Everyone who use to play is now a Zodiac/Era addict because they don't wish to pay to play... If Stefan and Unixmad think they could make kingdoms like WOW where players would do anything even spend money to play it would never happen...

There's now 100 + free mmoprg games out there which is far better than kingdoms.

The only thing that made kingdom fail was when Free Gold Weekends for Classics account was taken away so therefore it DIED...

And to top it off Crystia would prob take away a few more of the Gold tab

obviously i dont go on anymore BECAUSE i get stuck in obs mode EVERY TIME i go on..

i havent even seen you online in the times i was online

cbk1994 10-01-2008 10:57 PM

I don't think the main problem with Kingdoms is that it costs money to play ... rather, I think the problem is that it doesn't have as much action as, say, Era. In general, Kingdoms is much more tedious and unexciting than Era. You have to be very patient to play Kingdoms.

Hopefully this will change soon.

kia345 10-01-2008 11:02 PM

Ziro, upgrade if you enjoy it. I for one plan on upgrading, everything Elizabeth says is just for the sake of being negative. GK is actually doing fairly well at the moment.

Elizabeth 10-01-2008 11:36 PM

everything there that's negative is true.
current playercount - Graal Kingdoms: 5
....

kia345 10-02-2008 12:14 AM

That's right now, it's been jumping at 20 for a few weeks lately. Quit talking about GK, you haven't been on in weeks, and haven't actually played ever.

Most Gold Graal players ask their mommys and daddys for money to buy a subscription.

Statistics or it didn't happen.

maximus_asinus 10-02-2008 10:13 AM

This thread is full of people trying to justify the fact that they're wasting money on a dying game.

Darklux 10-02-2008 07:17 PM

Are you talking about american playtimes?
The europeans have broken together totally, like 20 o'clock gmt+1. I sometimes take a look on the server list and hardly see people on to that time.

If they are on they are newbs or idle...

i dont. my subscription used to end right after my birthday, so id just use my birthday money.

Damix2 10-02-2008 10:18 PM

People get excited over a player count of 30?

GK needs at least 70 people on, 30-40 at slow times for it to 'work'

GK has had more then 70 people online? I never knew they got more then 40.

Tigairius 10-02-2008 11:26 PM

Actually, GKs development is at a peak right now. There are several different projects going on at once and all of them are close to completion.

There are major plans for GK, I, along with several other developers, log on debug daily and work.

I refuse to stand for crappy work. We are not going to just release a bunch of small, trivial updates once a week (like some other servers) because that will only bring temporary players.

We plan to bring deep rooted content that will stay forever and hopefully constantly sustain stimulation to the players, economy and story.

A lot of people have been asking me to simply "whip up a new dungeon and release it."
Dumb.

That's not the way you bring a playercount. GK deserves better than that, and it will get it.

New events, quest system/quests, leveling methods and dungeons are in the works and on the way. We will not release them before they are ready because you guys "WANT IT NOW!!!" to secure content quality.

I don't think these guys ever heard of "quality before quantity" though. ^^

GK is not worth $50 at the moment. Once Tig pimps it out it should be worth it....

Yes, because Tig is the only one working.

Oh and, it's currently $33 for 8 months of Gold, which means unlimited access to all servers.

Use a bank account? Pay Pal can be on debit, credit, or bank account you just need permission from the bank so transactions take longer

I opened my own bank account when I was 15, before that I had one that my mom were saving money for me on.

Actually, I actually like the new payment system. So much that I had to say "actually" twice. It seems to be nothing more than going back the old system, removing the VIP option, and increasing the price so that they still get about the same as I was paying before for a full package... which is great because I always wanted the old system back, and now they removed VIP so I can't complain about how useless it is.

Do you still get lifetime classic after buying a subscription, or do you have to renew your subscription to keep playing Unholy Nation and stuff?

Maybe not to people such as yourself who got nothing better to do then lurk the forums complaining about how much Graal sucks, yet not willing to make an effort to do anything about it.

It's definitely a better option compared to the previous one but 2003's (or was it 2004?) system with the Gold/VIP + lifetime classic was the best, in my opinion.

Lifetime classic is no longer offered, you have to keep paying to be p2p on classic servers.

Yes, because posting on the OGCC is all I do. Ignore the fact that I used to develop (let alone still play the game), there's something called criticism. I suggest you go learn about it before making yourself look like an ignorant judgemental prick.
