So how has Graal changed/influenced/affected your life?

I saw a thread like this on GameFAQs once, so I decided to bring it here and see what responses would be like.

Has Graal gotten you a job (Elk)? Did you make your first friend on Graal?

Personally, it hasn't done much for me except make me much less bored since there's virtually nothing to do around my town lol

Before Graal, I was just another loser who never got their ass kicked by Kaimetsu. Now I'm a loser who's had their ass kicked by Kaimetsu.

kia345 07-30-2008 05:37 AM

I was an internet loser who typed with crazy abbreviations and formatting. Graal helped me become a real life loser with knowledge of the cyberuniverse and also good grammar maybe too.

DustyPorViva 07-30-2008 05:39 AM

Graal gave me a reason to try pixel art.

cbk1994 07-30-2008 05:39 AM

GS1 was the first programming language I learned (unless you count TrueBASIC, which is hardly programming). I later learned Java, and some basic C++. I used my knowledge of Java to help me learn GS2, and with my knowledge of GS2, I've learned PHP.

So, Graal has really affected my life. Perhaps if I hadn't played Graal, I wouldn't be a loser who is always up in his room programming ^^

You're saying Graal destroyed your social life?

Internet in general does that.

It's hard to destroy something you never had, which was the case with me. I started programming at like age 7 with GS1 >_<

As he said! =)

Graal got me into Graphics Design as a whole, but I was always good at art so...maybe I would be some mechanic right now if it wasnt graal that influenced my fate =)

I'm thankfull ^^ now I'm going to be a graphics designer and earn some nice cashmonies instead of working in some shop! yay XD

Graal has got me far, yes :) and it still helps, I got quite alot of paid jobs (highest was 800$ for a tileset) but I declined since I don't know how much im worth (have no clue about pixelartprices D:)...and I did some graphics for money aswell :D

I had friends in real life but Graal made me ditch them, I guess thats the price :) hehe
But online friends are cooler, gotta be carefull who to pick tho...

He kicks yours, you kiss his?

Graal helped me with programming from gcript.
I've done some gfx editing because of graal too, I suppose.

Just keeping the legend alive until I can become a winner.

Graal has greatly honed my communicational skills on the professional level and, in going with that, management in general. Also peaked my interests as far as sociology and business are concerned, lol. Developing random stuff is fun, too, and brought out my creative side. :)

Twinny 07-30-2008 11:55 AM

Graal has made me an angry and bitter person. I'm short with pals. Shorter with fools and I lack the desire to do anything creatively anymore.

Codein 07-30-2008 02:26 PM

Graal turned me into Barack Obama

Spark910 07-30-2008 03:31 PM

Probably helped me become skilled in various areas (on a basic, yet practical area) such as level design which probably influenced an eye for web design which has landed me a position on my university law society committee which should make me stand out from the crowd on a CV and get me a career!! :D

On the negative, I probably become too comfortable, and could have been doing things other than sitting on a computer. But then my PWA position taught me a lot about people in general and how to approach them etc, which would be useful for any management role.

Galdor 07-30-2008 04:00 PM

graal turned me into a gfx nerd.

Umat 07-30-2008 04:08 PM

Since I has been stuck with Graal since 1998, I guess Graal has changed my life. Perfect summer days goes to nothing.

Rufus 07-30-2008 05:15 PM

I don't think Graal has changed my life with anything notable. I have gained interest in various things that I wasn't interested in before, but that's about it. I won't knock this thread though, because I know Graal (or more so the people on Graal) has saved some people's lives, and they know who they are so I wont go into it.

xAzerothx 07-30-2008 05:16 PM

I thought Graal was the death of some people.

Door 07-30-2008 06:02 PM

I would never have met my future husband if it wasn't for Graal.

Unpredlctable 07-30-2008 06:11 PM

hey i made all of my friends on graal because i'm a complete loser

also, lurk moar, darleene

Tigairius 07-30-2008 06:27 PM

Graal got me in to programming, development and computers in general. Before Graal I only occasionally got on the computer to chat with a few friends on AOL. Graal is directly attributed to all of my success with computers I've had in real life. Graal improved my communication skills, professionally and personally. The people I've met on Graal have shown me so much, intellectually and emotionally. Some of the friends I have made are friends I know I will remember for the rest of my life. Graal has probably almost completely formed me in to the person I am today. Most of all, I met the love of my life and my future wife, Katie, on Graal.

Not sure if I'll be called "pathetic," etc for this post, but it's true and I'm very thankful for the mental tools and the things Graal has given me.

Weren't you 'keeping his legend alive' even when he still posted?

xAzerothx 07-30-2008 07:43 PM

That's gonna be a cute telling your kids how mom and dad met.

We met through a computer game.

Graal's made my life worse. Now that I've stopped playing my life's way better, completely serious.

Well, I suppose then it would simply have been called "obsessing", a "man crush", or something of the sort.
