Era Needs a New Job!

Era needs a new job to make money. I think Era should implement Fishing on the server, I think it'd be fun to have different kinds of fish to catach and I think it'll help boost our economy. My advice is, increase the selling price on the minerals in mining and people would stop complaining because people will then have enough money to lame people.

They are going to reset soon, and then perhaps the economy will be more balanced for the next three weeks until someone finds another glitch.

Sinkler 06-09-2008 07:43 PM

The Minining system for Era helped destroy the economy. Diamonds used to be 50 bucks, now they're 25. I think it should have stayed the same.

Resetting is Era's response to everything

Sinkler 06-09-2008 07:58 PM

No, it's the response to 4 resets of failure.

You still seem to care for Era though, since you are requesting a new job. We planned to add fishing for quite some time, maybe I can do this later, when the stuff for the reset is finally done.

Ziro_of_the_Turks 06-09-2008 10:58 PM

Era reset? Any specific date?

Resets always interest me to hop on a game, since everyone is put at the same level as me ^^

Sinkler 06-10-2008 01:11 AM

There have been like 4 or 5 resets. It happens like every year, it gets sad really.

This was discussed thousands of times, and you are even going off-topic in your own thread. What the **** is your problem.

Scrimps 06-10-2008 05:00 PM

Era shouldnt reset.

Sinkler 06-10-2008 05:06 PM

Era should just give out guns like that one time...

And Era could stop this economic down-draft by getting rid of the lazy staff...

Yes, it needs to now.

Era shouldn't need to reset.

Yes, you're right. That would help the economy.

hmm i almost finished pizza making as a job, i should really finish it though.... i am tired atm, maybe will be finished tomorrow???

DustyPorViva 06-11-2008 09:51 PM

Well, Era did do a pretty good job on the modern take of mining... I wouldn't mind seeing that same thing done with fishing. Instead of going out and using a fishing rod like every other game, perhaps they should have some sort of bulk boat fishing. IE, nets, sorting, and the such.

That's what I was doing on Utopia.

Guess I will have to think again.

Guys, this thread is about "Era Needs a New Job!", not "Let's ignore the forums rules and 'bash' other people!". More outbursts like that will only see this thread closed.

Resets are often caused by glitches/management changes. I feel that if we, the current administration, could stabilize the post-reset economy, and actually hold the server without a huge staff change, things could easily work out. Me and Demisis have already talked over some things we'd like to do.

Obviously. The key is to design a system where there is no chance of a duping glitch; this is actually pretty easy.

DustyPorViva 06-12-2008 06:03 PM

Not really. People script and design to imagine they've made the perfect system with no duplicating glitches, but you never really know. Most professional games go through extensive bug testing and still players end up finding bugs, even years later to mess around with. I doubt any server on Graal even has bug testing. Even so, you never really know what can really happen once it's introduced to a playerbase.

That's true, but a lot of times the way you design the system (e.g. a mud system with IDs versus some kind of system using normal weapons) can make all the difference.

Sinkler 06-12-2008 06:14 PM

We need to make all the staff changes before the reset if what Icarus says is true. If all is changed there will be no management change in the future for a while depending on if he does his work well or he's lazy.

Duping can be fixed if we just allowed the Manager and Server Admin to do it. No one else, so we know if someone is duping because two people have it.

Ya, any system managing multiple items without IDing the items is behind in times. It's possible, and there are already tons of MUD systems posted in the code gallery that take advantage of it. It will easily manage duplicated items, but you can never really be too sure. In the end, it still takes intelligent judgment on the staffs part as well, on how to handle the situation. Era really hasn't proven themselves in that area so far...

considering the manager and the 2 administrators aren't too advanced with GS2 I highly doubt any of them would of been able to figure out + fix the duping glitch.

I think he was saying something along the lines of if two people have some kind of special weapon?

I don't think he was saying it would be the manager/admin fixing it.

New players should start off with a handgun with 2k ammo that will help
