Zodiac, jailed for the escape button.
This is outrageous. I've been jailed on Zodiac for 2 hours for pressing the escape button.
"Please, be aware that if you press escape while in a dungeon it'll be logged. If you're in a party the entire party members will be effected aswell, not just you. You'll be punished !" -Zodiac NPC Server I accidentally hit escape and now I'm stuck....... There has got to be a better way.... |
Ah yea, the almighty xAndrewx added that today lol Did'nt actually know what he meant. Seems a little harsh though lol
Punishment should be so they cannot equipt their weaponry or enter dungeons again for an hour or so. |
Your entire party gets jailed, according to the rules.
So if I'm in a big party I can press esc and get everyone jailed for the hell of it. |
Punishment!?
For what, I pressed the wrong button on my keyboard..... |
Seriously this sounds so stupid I hope it's suddenly april 1st or something.

Honestly why the hell jail the entire party? Players conspiring with others to press an esc button GUARANTEED if say someone presses it like sage_scooby by accident and pays the price of 2 hours in "jail"? |

Nope it's real....

Honestly they keep this the whole idea of parties are gonna go bye. |
Why jail players that are using a default feature of Graal? Doesnt make sense to me...

This is just a ridiculously stupid idea. Is there no competently active management or what?
|
I don't play Zodiac, so what's the big deal with the escape button being used?

Zodiac should change the escape button jail thingy ASAP. However, I also think Graal should either get rid of that escape menu, or just make it like linux where the menu is a GUI Control. |
The party thing is a bit dumb. I can see the reason, but this whole idea just screams abuse. You're putting jailing powers in the hands of players... tut tut.
Either just simply log it and judge for yourself, or keep track of multiple uses of the escape button. Lastly, just bug Stefan... who actually uses that feature? |
well it was added because monsters on Zodiac still attack the player if the player is on the escape button, there's no way to check if the player's in that menu or not.
The people in the party that are jailed must have been in a dungeon for them to be in jail. It's simple, why would you press esc in the dungeon and then click on cancel? The person that pressed esc is jailed for two hours * amount of times that they've pressed the esc button. The party members are jailed for 30 * amounts THEY HAVE pressed it. If there was another way, I'd gladly do it. However, there isn't... It's constant abuse. |
=] Moral of the story is.. Don't THINK about leaving Zodiac!

Well you can check if the Graal Window is in focus, I believe... you can try that(not sure if Graal loses focus when the escape window is open, though).
I still think you should just bug Stefan to remove the feature altogether... it's ancient stuff for any Windows program and no one uses it... and it's obviously causing problems. Also, have you tried substituting the escape button with something else via Gscript? |

You're jailing people TWO HOURS for that? If you know when they hit esc enough to jail them, couldn't you just use that to know whether the player is on the escape menu? Or have it so that once you open escape, the server trys to trigger the client, then once it CAN trigger the client, unset the esc menu var. Wow, so stupid ... |
lol
I'll make it so you can't enter the dungeons for a period of time. Just so you're aware. It only sends the action IF the player presses cancel, that's when it's all done. However, it's been altered now. No jail, just no dungeon for an hour |

My problem wasn't jailing people for abuse, my problem was that if I joined a party and some ******* decided to press esc i'd be jailed too. :/
|
well, only if you were in a dungeon. ^^

it'd stop people from using it.
However, this dungeon thing for 30 minutes is kinda cool, not as fun though ^^ |

Jailing everyone because someone presses esc was ****house.. |

Honestly, jail your party for one man's mistake? You're probably ruining there self esteem or something when they have 2+ players and they harass the **** out of them because they were in some EPIC FIGHT ran for there mouse and hit esc on the way |

i couldn't really care what any of you think, I've only seen two people that play Zodiac actually post in this thread, the others probably used to work there.
you don't understand why I've done this, i don't accept corruption / abuse, many of you may / may not know, but I couldn't care. If it puts an end to it, so be it. You can have your opinion, that you're entitled to. however, when it comes to insults, you're going over that line. although, none of the insults that have been mentioned are actually insulting me ! from reading most of the posts, many of you don't even know why i did this, alot of you don't even understand how the detection works. i'll let you carry on with your whitty comments ! to be honest with you, i couldn't care less. if you're to think that i shouldn't be the co-manager of Zodiac, please forward this thread or file a support ticket and address the situation to Bell. thanks ^^ however, just so you're aware i did try and come to an easier solution http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...ad.php?t=77816 although many of you thought that the jailing was a bit to far, i am to disagree! maybe the time was, but that's it |

Ok, so you dont care, could you please explain the reason that you added that? Because I think that you could easily press the X button on top right of your screen to exit, or is that just me? And if you reallyu wanna screw someone over you just end the process with the Ctrl+Alt+del window, same way of leaving a party, innit? |

You're entitled to a comment, but when you don't know the situation or how it works, all that you're doing is making yourself look like an idiot ! gg ^^ |
Quitting isn't the problem at all.
When you press ESC, a little window comes up asking if you really want to quit. While this window is open, basically Graal is 'paused', no packets are sent to the client(according to what was posted earlier). This can cause a few different problems, so he implemented this to stop people from abusing this unforeseen side-effect. It has nothing to do with people quitting Graal. And Andrew, while some are coming off insulting, this doesn't really invalidate the criticism. Just because it gets the job done doesn't mean it's the best solution, as a scripter you should know this better than anyone. I think a few good ideas have been posted here, maybe some things to think about. |
My biggest issue with it was apparent the other day when I was in a party so I could get money from payout and stuff, but I was in Bad Dream and the person who hit esc was in Lichs or some crap because they were bored or something and wanted easy kills. My issue is the fact that I was in A dungeon, but no the SAME dungeon o.o and I got jailed.
