Open up a shell prompt.
Type this in
wget http://www.graalonline.com/graal2001...raalinstall.sh

then

chmod +x graalinstall.sh
then

./graalinstall.sh

Then follow the instructions ^^

Must you be so condescending with almost every post?

BINGOISFANCY 10-13-2003 08:30 PM

Thanks a lot, Angel!

That's subjective, I don't see how I'm being condescending by stating my opinion. Linux just isn't a good OS for the average computer user, especially since it isn't really meant for gaming.

Ack. You have to CHMOD things in Linux? x.X Anyway, peraps I'd like Linux if I had enough space to partition my drive and tinker with it more. ::has a copy of Mandrake sitting around somewhere...::

Yeah there are many cases where you must CHMOD...unless you are root of course...but running linux as root is risky.

Even as root you must have a file chmodded as executable in order to run it... you would not want to accidentally run text files or the like :)

Kronan 10-14-2003 04:31 AM

Wrong forum for this....

I think you can just do 'sh graalinstall.sh'
But normally you can just download the file, then click on it in the file browser.

@Jagen: :grrr: Linux is much easier to install than Windows, there are programs like Mozilla, OpenOffice and gimp, and it's much more secure.

And, you're making the flawed assumption that the average computer user has gaming as a main, or even high, priority.

If I was smart enough, I would attempt to write an ebuild to install Graal, and thus make more Graalians use Gentoo

That'd be cool, but I'd wait till the Linux version is actually playable. You can play it , but not very well.

Heh I'd love that though....emerge graal...boom..hehe Of course, I wouldn't be using it until Graal becomes worth my time to play.

If you dont know how to use a linux just dont buy its simply a waste of time and causes alot of stress. Linux is a very complicated system for the simpilest thing you can do easily on a dell or mac ect if you really want to know how ask stefan or unix or go to your nearest computer management technician.

You can run a Linux distribution on both Mac and Dell...especially dell since it is an x86 platform.

Linux isn't really that complicated. It just has a higher learning curve.

Some linux distributions aim for a user-friendly interface, plus I wouldn't be 100% sure that the nearest computer management technician knows of linux

That is silly. First, how is one supposed to know how to handle it without ever trying? Second, why would one need to buy a Linux distribution?

It sounded to me like he/she thought that linux is a whole different computer platform like a macintosh vs. a pc...LOL

Heh, you could buy LindowsOS...LOL

Loriel 10-18-2003 11:34 AM

I fail to understand how people can still take Lindows for serious.
