Update: Clan System !
The Graal Kingdoms staff has a new feature to present to you: Clans! With global guilds disabled, they are designed to cater to smaller, tight-knit groups. Being in different kingdoms doesn't mean your group of friends has to stay separated—create a clan and wear your tag with pride! So, how does it work? Clans cost 120 nihils to create and start out with 5 slots of members. Joining a clan doesn’t cost anything, and you do not need to leave your kingdom to do so, but players can only be a member of one clan at a time. When you open up the control panel, you’ll see three buttons at the top of the interface. Clicking “Back” returns you to the last place you clicked within the control panel, “?” brings up a help box with information on the different commands, and “X” closes out the window. There are also four tabs on the left. Clicking these lets you browse the different commands for the clan system: View Clan http://i.imgur.com/vQGDTpF.jpg This tab lets you see your clan’s message, its current members, and their ranks. http://i.imgur.com/Kiq52LZ.png When you are not in a clan, it displays info on joining a clan or creating your own. Clan CP http://i.imgur.com/apC5pB1.jpg This tab has all the command options for clan members. The commands you have access to depend on your rank in the clan: Rank 1: All rights Rank 2: Turn Tag On, Change Clan Message, Recruit New Player, Edit Members, Edit Ranks Rank 3: Turn Tag On, Change Clan Message, Recruit New Player Rank 4: Turn Tag On Edit Members Shows you all of the members of the clan and gives you the option to remove them. Change Clan Message Allows you to change the clan message that is displayed on the “View Clan” screen. There is no character limit. Edit Ranks Allows you to change the ranks of clan members. The darkened number is the member’s current rank. To change a member’s rank, just click on one of the lighter numbers. See above for what rights each rank has access to. Transfer Leadership Lets you pass Rank 1 to another member of the clan. Only one member of the clan can hold Rank 1 at a time. To pass the rank, just select a member from the list. Clan Shop Here you can purchase several different features for your Clan. Disband Clan Disbands your Clan with no refund of Nihil Coins. Recruit New Player Displays a list of all online players. To invite one to your clan, just click the button next to their name. A message will pop up on their screen with the option to accept or reject your invitation. Players can only be a member of one clan at a time. Leave Clan Click to leave your clan. Clan leaders must pass Rank 1 to another member before they can leave the clan. Turn Tag On Click to toggle your clan tag on and off. You can also turn your tag on by typing "/clantag". Search Clans Here you can look up other clans by typing a clan name into the search box. http://i.imgur.com/aVuefkj.png From there, you can click on the clan to view its current members and other stats. http://i.imgur.com/pK16cuY.png Form Clan http://i.imgur.com/3pGGfny.png From this tab, you can create a new clan. Creating a new clan costs 120 nihils and requires that you not be a member of any other clan. Any updates to the system will be noted here! Thanks to: Alpho (Development) |
Great work - big thanks to Nico and Alpho for quarterbacking this from concept to creation!
|
Any news on bmode for clans as well as allies and such?
|
Now you need Clan wars and Clan events!

Wowow you're a Rogue Jr? Who was the first?

This looks great! Alpho did an amazing job, and in what feels like a fairly short amount of time. I probably won't join a clan since I'm barely active enough for just a kingdom, but still a cool addition to the game.
I heard Mirar wrote this guide on how to use it too! Nice work, miss ;) Now stop writing clan stuff and go work on Zormite lol. |
Nice work, it looks great guys! Keep the content flowing! :)

Cell created it, we have one spot left out of five but plan to upgrade. :) |
Question: in the past when manipulating guild tags via scripts this also seemed to impact the Global Guild system primarily in the activity section, so now that Global Guilds are disabled:
1) Is it legal to recreate global guilds as clans. 2) Does this still effect global guild activity. (ex: a global guild with 10 players but 20 players on a server wear the tag causing 200% activity). Sorry it's hard to keep track with the global guilds as the website is always out-dated. |

global guild activity hasnt been updated since september 2012 so its not really an issue. its fair to say it will never be fixed because graals future plans only factor in mobile and facebook servers, and the current ones do not use global guilds i have asked the same question to a senior pwa in the past whether it would be ok to recreate global guilds in a local guild system, and was told there was no such rule one way or the other. in my opinion there should at least be some checks to ensure that anyone trying to create a global guild locally is in one of the top two ranks, i accomplish this like so: PHP Code:

It's sad so many servers don't use the global system. Consistency is pretty nice. I am a (Storm) at heart. In my previous years on my very first account I was and still am a (Canavi). Things kinda get messed up when your 1 guild on 1 server but they wont add you on another when your the original founder.... :( it makes you feel like your not playing Graal but a totally different game, which I guess is fine but its all mashed into 1 client rather than separate ones.
There really is no rule on guild creation? I could have sworn back in the 2.x client days there was. Kinda a shocker to me actually. Either way I'm not paying 120 NC to be a (Storm) when I already paid over $40 for VIP when I created it 11 years ago Globally.. in 2003. |
You can still use global guilds, I'm pretty sure, but it's not likely that they'll get to use the aforementioned 'Clan Shop' when it actually happens.

There are no restrictions on clan names, of course for obvious exceptions like vulgarity and duplicating kingdom names / staff titles.

Kind of dumb to turn them off since they won't be a part of the clan system anyway, but whatevs. |

The main reason we added a clan system is for the facebook release soon. So players can actually form a clan without using the global guild system since its not up to date. Also players do not have to upgrade gold anymore to play Graal. A clan is not really expensive, 120 NCs is a fair ammount. You can even gain them in game with several features, like Plat-Nihil exchange or selling IWDs/EAs to the NPC Vendor in the Nihil Shop. We try to make Nihils also obtainable in game, we are not forcing people to buy from the cash shop. It is every players own decision if they want to spend money or not. |

I was disappointed when I heard global guilds were being disabled as well, also if that's the GUI used for PC Graal Kingdoms, it doesn't really seem to fit the theme?

I am not quite sure if you can or cannot create guilds with the website being in it's current state. I do however know you can still join and leave guilds freely, that part of the website still functions perfectly. I am quite dissapointed. The main reason this 'grinds my gears' is because now if I logon I will have more people harassing me "put your tag on" and since I can only wear 1 tag... well yeah. I did suggest to nico theres no legitimate reason for a need for a kingdom tag as long as all the members know who each other are. Like an icon by the players name and a rescripted F7 would be pretty cool. It would also give kingdoms the illusion that there more active because of such but could be tricky to pull off. Quote:

Though most kingdom leaders don't enforce the use of RP names anymore-- still, kingdom tags are the only strand of RP left on the server. I'm not sure what sort of crazy clans are going to be made in the future, but it's hard to picture "Joe Momma (Hood Killahz)" to be taken very seriously as a Samurai or a Pirate haha. I do agree with you though, if there's going to be clan wars/shops etc-- then a way for kingdoms and clans to co-exist needs to be considered. I can see Kingdom activity dying down (even more-so) with incentive for clan activity. |

But I see the biggest problem being clans watering down kingdom tag time and viceverse.. Which in itself kinda means you wont be wearing your rank anyways.. I just kinda feel like clans are kingdom version 2.0... so now we have more kingdoms then ever without the playerbase yet to support it. And hopefully we can gain a dozen or so more people when we release on facebook. It's really a tough one. Guilds do deserve some sort of benefits like what clans offer but doing it on a global scale then becomes much harder to deal with so limiting to server only guilds makes sense a little. But at the same time what exactly is a clan besides a kingdom in itself without it's own island and without controlling pk and who you can hurt. This is going to be an interesting thing to watch imo. Let's see how it turns out, hopefully for the best. |

Update:
You can now join multiple clans! |

just to make everyone aware, because you can now join multiple clans, the command to turn your clan tag on has changed.
instead of "/clantag" you now have to type "/clantag nameofclan" you need to do this even if you're only in one clan |
Awful, global guilds disabled so essentially a premium on (Guild).

+ you both are not even playing anymore, so I dont really know where the point of these posts are. |
Server specific clans are easier managed too. Seeing as there is no longer much global staff monitoring those guilds, they are now basically obsolete. Use the clan system on GK for good happy success!

The point of the posts are to comment on the "Clan System" update, lending our opinions as veteran players who've played, supported, and worked for/on the Graal Kingdoms server. Don't be so dismissive. While I understand this system is being used to make the Facebook integration a lot smoother as it will allow Facebook users to form clans within the game, for PC users this is pretty much just a premium with some kind of reward system to be introduced at a later date (something we're not to keen on hearing from management). You'd be more convincing if you introduced a finished product than what's available right now. |

If you're capable of delivering said content, finish it, then release it together. If you're incapable, don't create a system that holds no benefits in comparison to the old (free) system but asks for cash. |

Clans for example are massively bugged and keep removing people. This problem was originally noticed during the kingdom vote we did that kinda came up empty. The problem is that dbnpc flags are stored in memory and sometimes the garbage collector, or npc server restarts will erase them. Rolling the content back. The solution to this however is to move systems over to sql. And only alpho has access to the clan script, so people like me who sit on our butt scratching our head completely bored that we can't do anything but are fully capable and available... you kinda see where I'm going.. I've diverted my attention more astray from gk and I'm focusing on helping people convert older servers gs1 content to gs2. Which should have been done a long time ago. |

Overall though, I agree with the points brought up. It's a bit silly to have to pay 19€ for a clan. I'm a firm believe of making all content available to all players on equal terms, but then having non-gamebreaking bonuses that can be purchased. As you can imagine from that, not really a fan of the gear barrels either, but I don't mind those as much given the current state of how hard it is for anyone to gear up from scratch on GK, which is one of many things I hope to eventually address. |
