Preparing for what's to come & equality?
When V5 came out; unixmad, the so called Graal Accountant issued a new payment method via gelats. Newcomers must shell out 300 Gelats to access both Gold and Classic servers, you can't buy just gold servers or just classic servers, you are obligated to purchase both.
Now my question is, why don't you itemize all the servers under one list? It's not like they are paying extra to play on gold servers, or anything. I mean, if you are FORCED to purchase both at the same time, their isn't really a difference between classic and gold, you know what I mean? On the other hand, as a lifetime classic player, why should we be paying the same amount as a newcomer if we are only given access to gold where as newcomers are admitted to classic and gold. "Gives full access to Zone, Kingdoms, classic and under construction playerworlds" Graal Shop, Gold Subscription. Why should I be paying for Classic again knowing I already have lifetime classic? Opinions? |
If they put every server under one list chances are our "lifetime classic" won't give us access to any servers.

I mean after paying 300gelats on Gold, I don't really have the urge to spend another 1000gelats to buy guns, etc. Whereas if I got direct access to the server, I might consider spending a few gelats here and there. |
I would have moved UN, Zodiac, and Era to the gold list a couple years ago. If he wanted to make money off Gold Accounts that is.

Whatever you do, don't get into marketing. |

How can you not agree with this, are you retarded or something? It's beneficial for all lifetime classic players, and for Stefan/unixmad. If you actually read the thread, you would probably understand that the second part of the thread is more of a question rather than an idea. Oh and for your information, I have a DEC in Marketing, and working on my BAC :) |

You bring up a good point though. Lifetime classic players do spend the same for two servers as the rest of Graal spends for the entire list. But everything other than just seems like a half-assed suggestion that is best not mentioned until Graal actually has some sort of stability and quality control in terms of servers and management (and I don't just mean on the server level) Quote:

Let's take a look at the title, if Graal does exist for the next 10years (Holy ****), I guarantee you everyone will have a Graal###### account. By then, having classic&gold servers is completely useless since people will just buy one package for all the servers. But I guess this isn't really something we need to worry about. I guess you're right, Graal isn't durable enough to worry about stuff like this atm. Quote:

You just need to answer the question. What're we even paying for.

Why are we even debating this? ._.
Its already been said...on multiple occasions...the subscription system is going to change, come v6. So...we just have to wait and see, then we can start complaining about how Unixmad is an unfair greedy bread-hoarder. |
i wish they would just take classic and make it the way graal used to be...
free, no p2p system, no trial restrictions etc. just one ****ing server. milking servers like zodiac and era would be easy, i just dont want to see a server like classic give into cash shops. |

I bet they are gonna decide against changing the payment system when v6 comes out. I seriously hope they don't though, I don't want to see Graal PC die due to no one wanting to pay. If they changed it in v6 to free with a cash shop and advertised it to the thousands of iPhone players, many more people would join PC as the gameplay is much more than on iPhone.

Hey, I'm just hoping for any kind of advertisement.
Look. At least we show on mmorpg.com, 5.95 hype, but some bad feedback as of late. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/g...-Kingdoms.html |
If the upcoming payment/subscription model change allows servers to retain more active players, then a simple mention on the iPhone and word of mouth should be all the game needs.
iPhone players are coming to PC and many are well aware of it but choose to continue to play iPhone instead. The most common complaint is due to the cost. They don't need to spend stupid amounts of money trying to advertise and attract player-count when the servers (gameplay-wise) them self can't even support more than 200 players concurrently on their own. I'm also hesitant to believe a mention on "mmorpg" or other stupid listing site actually makes a difference. itt: beating dead horses. |
If we had advertising on iPhone servers the players would flood into PC Graal like a tsunami
|
Debatable. Lol

Ill have to agree with WaDaFack; Honestly look at the servers. We have alot of Empty servers. I mean look. Era is doing Great. Now you have a buntch of servers trying to have guns and be like era. We lost a great deal of family members to graal and i say the last thing that can be done is probably come up with a solution as a whole. Graal started a long time ago and we're loseing more good people everyday. Somethings gotta give, specially for who is still here today. Still here! Graal is on iphone. COOL! Graal is on Facebook, COOL! So what, PC has to get it together! We came this far. Cut down these servers. Or maybe its a bad idea? Atleast WaDaFack, is trying something. I agree with em!

The fact is...GK and Zone are Garbage...Well not worth the value that they are being pushed as. Graal does need to return to what it used to be...At the moment Graal is probably making most of its money off UC servers where people pay to "create their own world". But lets face it most of your good developer's have either left or are working on projects...Graal used to be full of Developers...Now there is just a handful...
|
The fact is...
Graal is not a good enough product to be priced anywhere near the prices one would expect to pay to play an online game, especially given that the content you're paying for is controlled by other paying customers. As an underground and relatively free game (lol), Graal could be seen as an admirable impressive bastion of indie developers and the "art" of game design for fun rather than profit (lol). As a facebook/iPhone/p2p PC game, Graal is just another Bejeweled. |
ppl lost focus on what graal actually is and why this pricing scheme failed to begin with
cyberjoueurs dont/didnt even know it, despite us repeating it multiple times. just let them spend ~6 years realizing something we did in a month and go with the flow. really, that is my advice. just let them do their own thing. |

Graal needs more players. The price of the game is way too high right now. Very low player counts aren't going to change unless the price is right.
Graal should have some sort of completely free classic server. It would act like a bug zapper (where it would attract tons of people and take their money) and bring back the value to the game. People would be drawn to the free classic server and Graal can advertise other servers that have micro-transactions. Think of it this way. You go to the park once a week to play pickup soccer games with whoever is there. The games you play are on an adequate field, but you have no uniforms or referees. Next to the field you play on is a nice fenced in field with stadium lighting, bleachers, structured teams with uniforms, and referees. A lot of people first start out just playing pickup games, but then they desire some fancier aspects of the sport and decide to pay a fee to get the referees, access to the field, a real team, and referees. If the nice field wasn't in sight of the free field, most of the people who moved to the nice field would have never decided to switch because they were happy enough with what they had. Since they saw the nicer field, however, they thought they would enjoy themselves more if they paid the fee to get into the nicer field. |

Developers help graal alot, why not making developing for gold and non gold, Unixmad will make more money with it, because half of the developers of graal doesn't have gold, or quit because they don't have money to develope.
also playercount will increase alot because graal is progressing somewere when the developers are back. |
Its not that they don't have the money to buy it, its that its not worth it.
|
I say it is both, not worth it, and I for one don't have the money for it.. but again even if I did I wouldn't..
I agree it would bring in a LOT more developers, and crap might actually get done to servers.. I love Graal due to the fact it is an awesome Dev type thing.. but not many people can.. Even I can't on many servers except testbed.. I can't edit levels on testbed because updating them resets them to their original status.. which is good so people like Kobe don't warp to me and mess crap up.. I had to make a system to keep 'banned' people out of my level, and keep me inside my level. >.> Elix7 or w/e and Kobe seriously annoying.. And having the textfile didn't keep people out lol But yeah, I agree, it would be awesome to have anyone be able to develop an amazing server... Well use RC at least.. I'm unsure if you meant to have a server or not so I will assume not. |

Graal Kingdoms I couldn't pass the tutorial and loosing teeth or barfing over and over isn't my thing. I still get on every once in a while the the hope to get somewhere but nope. Why would I want to pay, or even have free access to them? xD I hardly get on the classic servers either.. UN does have some games I like to play though... I might invite an ipod player to play with me but a lot of the games Trials cannot play.. I spend most of my time on Facebook, Testbed, Frontier, Classic and sadly lastly, iPod Classic. I should get on iPod Classic more often. :C |
I remember when all development could be done completely offline.

To be honest, and i don't mean to sound rude, but i think that graal has got the prices bang tidy on the dot wham. I mean, no wonder they succeed so much with their money pits they call "iPhone servers"
