Make it alot smaller, and if you're working in paint, don't save as .gif or .jpeg, save as .png.

edit: here's a small example of what you could do.

Try placing it in the environment that it'll be used in, and get rid of that racist signature of yours.

3 notes.

1)you double, double posted, there is an edit button.
2)You still save as .jpeg, it destroys the quality.
3)You used the medkit that i made as example without any rights to it, it was made to help you, not to freely use.

Tbh, the quality of your gfx is low, there isn't alot going on, it's simple, even though you now saved it as a .png, the bottom part is still low quality because it was first saved as .jpeg.

I recommend looking at some tutorials, there are some around these forums.

Quit name dropping. The kid can hardly work in mspaint, don't overwhelm him.

dont tell me that; tell Dnegel, he said it, i was just "correcting" him.

Dnegel 05-09-2010 12:04 AM

:(

I used paint first, then someone told me too get Gimp, and I did. It wasen't really hard too get used to all the tools and such.

The only thing that i miss in MS paint is layers, and maybe a better palette system. For the rest it works fine for me.

I can't really think of a use for layers in pixel art anyway :p

It can come in useful because you make 2 parts seperate, and then can combine them more easily, only with 100% transparency ofcourse, we want full control over our colors.

Yeah trancparency is true, but i just put it in photoshop for a sec and make it transparent there,
as for the ****ed up saving, save as .png and you're fine.

I love layers...

Makes it so much easier to work on large amounts of things without loads of new windows...and easier to work on tilesets.

I agree. There are loads of times I've used layers when satisfied with certain parts of work to continue with details. Easier for sprite work as well.

yeah but what if you want a gif file without grayscale and you only got paint? ^^

Pimmeh 05-10-2010 02:59 PM

Put this in a different topic, this is to help this kid, not to dazzle him with a 100 things he cannot use yet.

Fulg0reSama 05-14-2010 05:35 PM

Basic job calls for basic solutions people :X

As to how to help him though..

I will just say something obvious

References.

You're making a Call of Duty type server am I correct? Best thing to do is make your work revolved and not directly copied from call of duty and other war and modern day combat type references. Also tutorials are good. Save your work in as PNG files as well.
