setting up UDP again.
Ok so I set my modem to bridge mode, and I made my router open to port 14922
but it's still not working. I forgot how I set this up. The IP that's given to my computer for my router is 192.168.2.2 so I set the IP to that. Inbound port and private port are both 14922. Type set to UDP. I saw a page on graalonline.com that shows all the ports used on graal, but I forgot it. It was like 14xxx-15xxx or something. When I get my UDP to work. If I open up 2 clients, my 2 character's x and y positions should be the same, and the characters will appear to overlap eachother, sharing the same X Y position, but instead the characters are frozen. |
the correct port is 14899
|
I put it on that and it works thanks
|
i'm glad that was the problem and not something more complex (:
|
It still messes up a lot and I get errors. There really needs to be a more efficient UDP system on graal.
|
i also get frequent UDP errors regardless of how correct my settings appear to be
|
hopefully it will be updated but I doubt it.
|
I've done everything to try to unblock the port but it's not working anymore.
When I enable UDP, all the other people using UDP can't see me anymore but I can see them. Why is this happening? This is what I got on my router http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/5650/ports.png |

What's the range of ports that graal uses?
|
Graal is being real stubborn and I tried everything. I tried unblocking my firewalls and it still doesn't work so I guess I give up.
I'm really annoyed by this though. Like I said 100 times before, you guys need to rescript the UDP connection system. |
What's the advantage to UDP anyway?
|
Faster connection because UDP doesn't have to check info to make sure the packets aren't malformed. I think it's direct connection too basically.
I like using microphone sometimes too. A few weeks back I heard some people on microphone so it works to some extent sometimes. It seems to really give me trouble when I'm on a DSL connection. |
Sadly either my modem or my Apartment complex(who I 'rent' internet from) block ports for me -_- Pretty much ALL ports are blocked, and forwarding ports with my router accomplishes nothing. :(

When I had cable it seemed to work just fine. I always have problems with it when I'm on DSL.
|
UDP may be removed in the next client, js.
|
Upnp?!
|
As well as microphone use?

If people don't like what they're hearing they can vote to kick somebody from the channel, or leave themselves. |
Graal provides the ability to mute people
|
So I exclude my router and UDP works. I've done everything with that piece of crap and it still doesn't work.
Last thing I can think of is calling customer service on my router. |

Why would it suddenly become a requirement to have people who sits in the voice chat channels all day listening to everything everybody says and punishing people for talking about vaginas or drugs when you don't have somebody who sits on RC all day skimming every line of chat and PMs and punishing people for the same thing there? People that want to talk about that stuff are going to do it, no matter how many poorly defined chat filter rules you make. They're just going to use V's instead of U's and @'s instead of A's. You just have to trust that the people who don't want to hear/read that stuff are smart enough to not read it, or mute the people talking about it. |

As for a vent-similar chat, as long as you can mute it'll be fine. |

Does anybody here have a belkin router?

Has UDP option checked: 39 (57%) Has UDP option unchecked: 30 (43%) |

No UDP: 39 Using UDP: 3 Seems pretty minuscule to me, I guess UN has just used the mic feature more than others. |

I'm actually surprised more people on Zodiac don't use the mic since it would actually make sense there in party play. Saying "buff please" over mic is much quicker and easier than stopping what you're doing and typing "buff please" |

in relation to the thread, i've found that prior to logging on graal, using the "PFPortChecker by PortForward dot com" and checking to see if port 14899 for UDP is open and then logging on makes UDP work, assuming you can get the port open |
