Animated flower tiles are lagging me
They are making me lag.
How can I fix this |
get a new computer *hihihihi*
|
Wow good one, I just got this in feb.
Intel Core 2 Duo |
Need more details. Is it any instance of an animated flower, or lots of them, or just a 'normal' amount?
|
like a lot of them I guess, this one event has 60 of them. Makes me have this flickering lag.
|
Lots of animated flowers can lag, yes. This is because Graal animates them by constantly looping through and actually changing the tile. Can't really fix this, and some developers may not even take this into consideration.
However, 60 shouldn't be lagging you. |
recording a 640x480 video at 20 fps has no lag but 60 animated flowers do.
Must be the way it's processed. |
I'm not sure what the problem could be. I've just tested this in a level with every tile set to animated flowers and I only lag slightly but nothing extensive enough to be a major problem and I only have a 2.93 GHz Pentium 4 processor.
|
I think it's just my computer or something.
|
Version of Windows?
|
Xp
It can't be a virus because nothing comes up on 2 of my scanners. |
Are you sure that the flowers in the event are tiles rather than gifs or something? Additionally, are you having this problem outside of UN?
|
I thought i once heard something about graal running better on a single core then on a duel core, and something about adjusting the settings so that only 1 core is used for graal, which then reduces the lag.

lag is lowered when the window is smaller btw. |

I got this less than a year ago and I asked them to maximize all of my hardware to nearly the best they got. This computer exceeds my old computer by far. What do you want me to do get an alienware computer? Not my fault the one I have can't process some stupid flowers fast because Graal is so unoptimized. I probably have a component that has trouble with the flower animation process. Maybe the same reason I lag after entering a new level on Era because Era has 50-100 background NPCs per level. |
Best I can say is maybe ask Stefan to put in an option to disable animated tiles. That won't be an immediate fix, of course...
|
Shimmy post your full specs please.

Have you tried installing the latest catalyst drivers for your graphic card? Updated DirectX 9.0c?
|
I would maybe remove the animated flowers for pics1.png? (i think it IS possible)

You can't stop the tiles from animating unless you just don't use them in the levels. This is because Graal animates the predefined positions of the tiles no matter what is there.
|
I updated everything and it still lags
|
Hmm, maybe your hardware was made for Vista... maybe you should try getting your hands on Windows 7... whatever way you want. If you know what I mean. ;)
|
You know that could be true.
My computer came with both XP and Vista, but they expect you to use Vista. I can't find my vista disk though, hope I didn't leave it at my old house which I probably have no access to by now. It would be cool to multiboot between the two. |

Have you tried running Graal in Windows XP/98 compatibility mode?
|
I don't have vista installed.
|
Have you tried re-installing Graal?
