I also like that its applications now for Playerworld Rewiers, thats good.

Uhg.. not the old "we have to pay money for our work" argument. If it's good enough you won't have to pay, if you are paying, then it's not very good and only costing them money. Not to mention $20 is really fricken cheap. For $20 at a high quality shell host you can get one IRC server, and no other proccesses, including services, and no web hosting. IRC is text only, while Graal is obviosly not, and also takes up a lot more CPU on the server. Yet with $20 you get a server, and even web space. Remember, it does cost them money, and if you where to make a complete game from scratch, not just a world for a game, you would have to pay a lot more than $20. It's a bargain.

Remember the price has NOT been set yet Nemesis was only making a guess at what it may be. So don't count on it being at that price till Unixmad himself post the details.

HoudiniMan 03-30-2003 05:43 AM

I think they would be compensated in the long run. At a lower price more people will do it, if you have it at 50$ say 2 people buy servers... but 20$ you might get 5. Even if they are only breaking even in that example it would be much less costly for 1 person to stop wanting to pay out of 5, rather than out of 2. Not to mention i'm sure you'd have many more than 5 servers if it was only 20$ a month

Yes, I realize that, I'm not an idiot. I personaly think $50 would be reasonable... I was trying to make a point that it's not stupid to have to pay for a player world, and that if in the end it is $20, even less reason too. ;)

P.S. I love the edit button, too bad more people don't :\ (just a general complaint.. not pointing at anyone...)

ReturnedFire 03-30-2003 07:33 AM

If 50 is gonna be the price, its gonna be hella hard to pay for that. I mean really, 50 is just way too much for GRAAL, 20 dollars is way reasonable than that.

Hey, they aren't buying new VIP or gold accounts. They are paying for an entire server to go up. I wouldn't be suprised if it was higher than $50.

Although, I guess it is pointless to argue until the price is actually released.

JrTerrorist 03-30-2003 08:42 AM

He said it was going to be a fair price didnt he? Im expecting 20-40 :x

Spark910 03-30-2003 11:05 AM

Maybe if you had a VIP and Gold account you could get some % of the server price knocked off as your a VIP!?

Still alot of money... :\ I wouldn't be surprised if it were over 50 dollars..

PrinceDark 03-31-2003 04:16 AM

Probably 200 dollars for the entire year.
A yearly fee sounds reasonable because it's a good chance people will miss payments if it's a monthly thing. Not sure about the price though.

Yearly poses the problem of irregular income. And im fairly sure they aren't paying for a whole new dedicated server computer to be put up, they're just adding a new G server app to one they have...

200 a YEAR?! too rich for my teenage blood :(
