No one is interested at all? How would I go about doing it myself?

Buy a server, bug Stefan to transfer the content, change name to Testbed, apply to Hosted.

Would be a lot easier to convince Stefan to just host Testbed for free. Didn't Skyld say he would bug Stefan about that, or was that someone else? The PWA should really be on him about it.

It's no use, General Calrissian, our crusiers can't repel firepower of that magnitude!

ffcmike 11-29-2010 10:39 PM

Setup TestBed.

Charge a paltry sum of something like $0.50 for 3 months of use which is available to all.

Advertise it as a way to get a feel of Developing without having to pay $65 or $104 for a server.

Self sufficient but not damaging to the income provided by server renting?

Soala 11-30-2010 01:27 AM

There should be more server renting lenght options in the first place, not just 6 months or 1 year b/s

Seeya 11-30-2010 03:32 AM

Yea. I agree, Soala.

I don't know the current pricing, but lets say 6 months is $60. 12 months should be $100, 24 months should be $180, 36 months should be $250 or something along those lines. It's just a lot more reasonable, and if someone has 2 years left on there server, less incentive to quit.

@Thor, I agree.. just charge $5. for 6 months. If you get 15 people you're profiting.

Kinda missed the point, think he's talking about the lack of shorter options (3mo, 1mo).

DustyPorViva 11-30-2010 04:16 AM

Or it could just be free, least that can be done since they can't even give us tools.

oo_jazz_oo 11-30-2010 04:31 AM

Something needs to be done...thats all I know.

Someone pmd me yesterday, asking me how to get started scripting. He was serious about learning gs2.

And the best advice I could give him was to find some server with owners who don't know what they are doing in order to get rc and practice scripting....how sad is that?

He asked where the tools or offline editor was for gs2. And I really didn't know what to say.

I had actually asked Tigairius about taking up payment for the server and he said the only way he could guarantee the content would remain/be available to Classic accounts is if I transferred money to Clockwork and had him pay for it.

C'mon, man.

Well I was talking about both. People could just plan to build up a server for a long time and the price would be reduced if you rent it for a long period of time, but there should be shorter options as well so people can try out what it is to develop on their own.

Actually, I'm sure a lot of people would be interested to try out some ideas if they could rent their own playerworld for let's say 1-3 months, just as you said. Having to pay 6months minimum to find out 2 weeks later that developing is not your thing (or you got better things to do) is just plain and pointless, and a holy waste of money x_x

Seeya 11-30-2010 09:26 AM

$60 isn't the end of the world, people buy $60 xbox games every day that they trash in a week.

xXziroXx 11-30-2010 09:27 AM

In the meantime, anyone interested in learning how to script can feel free to join me and Mallard on Maloria. Shouldn't be too big of an issue, we could spot you some advice here and there as well.
