So I see the navigation bar at the top is getting cluttered... How about removing:
- members list
- FAQ
- Calender

And maybe adding a link to the rules up there?

What kind of forums user does not have the rules memorised, or at least bookmarked and always open in a separate window :\

Loriel 07-21-2008 09:05 PM

Is there a button to prevent certain people's blog posts being seen in the aggregate thing, other than subscribing to anyone but the certain people and ignoring their forum posts as well?

Why can't we have a members list again?

Loriel 07-21-2008 09:11 PM

You can trivially get one by checking the calendar for everybody's birthday :)

Apparently it'll promote spam because you can view people's post counts.

The most recent reason is that having an easily-accessible large list of Graal account like the guild lists is a security risk.

Skyld 07-21-2008 10:20 PM

Nice feature to have. :) I think I shall start using this to post about developmental things.

excaliber7388 07-21-2008 11:42 PM

Don't lie, you did this for my birthday, didn't you? :p

Today's July 21st.

We should be able to put ratings on blogs so people know if they have mature content or not. That way its the perverted 10 year old's fault when he goes in a blog that's talking about homosexuals.

We wont have to worry about that, since it isnt allowed.

LoneAngelIbesu 07-22-2008 02:14 AM

Guys. There are bloghosts out there that let you have adult content. Use those. Why on earth would you want to use blogs offered by a game targeted to 13-year-olds, for adult content? Common sense.

Adult content? No one is asking to host porn or anything :/

LoneAngelIbesu 07-22-2008 02:25 AM

Adult == mature. I didn't think word choice really affected the point I was getting at.

Adult is a lot different than mature...

But either way, just because a game is targetted at 13 year olds(which I think is a terrible idea in the first place), doesn't mean we all have to be treated as such. The game itself, logging in, is MUCH worse than the forums will ever be. It's terrible. So really, I can say while the game is targetted at 13 year olds, I pity any 13 year old that logs into the game anyways expecting flowers and rainbows.

LoneAngelIbesu 07-22-2008 02:34 AM

The forums are operated by GraalOnline staff, whereas servers are operated by their own sets of staff. Moderating all server content and behavior is an impossible task. The staff on those servers are supposed to uphold GraalOnline rules; unfortunately, most don't. However, these are the forums, and moderating a single forum is much easier than moderating 100+ servers.

The point I'm making is that you shouldn't expect to be able to post mature content on blogs provided by GraalOnline, a Zelda-based game targeted towards pre-teens. Despite what you might think, the majority of people I run in to are younger than 15 years old; I think it's safe to say that this game isn't inhabited by a majority of 18+ users. Despite if I'm wrong, the company sets it's target audience, and not the audience itself.

I think it shows really poor character when people complain about a feature that they weren't guaranteed to get. The blog feature was an unexpected addition, yet I see a lot of people bashing it for no reason other than it's now fashionable to bash GraalOnline staff and their work.

Yet there is never any punishment for not doing so. Servers like UN are never punished or taken down because they bring Graal money... It's understandable, but they can't claim to be a game geared for 13 year-olds then ignore the crap that goes on UN just because it makes them money.

Who said we're complaining? Or at least... I'm not. You're looking at this with a black and white view instead of really looking at what people are posting. I already said it was a okay feature, I however, don't agree that it will serve much purpose, especially if it's going to be moderated like the forums. I'm not going to sit and kiss Unixmad's ass just because he finally released something(anything on Graal takes too long to get done)... especially if I believe it could be better.

LoneAngelIbesu 07-22-2008 02:49 AM

@kia: Linux cyberjoueurs isn't a publicly traded company, therefore you have no say in what happens and what doesn't. When it goes on the stock market (), and you pony up some money to buy some stock, then you can use the "paying customers" argument.

Also, read my post entirely, please. That way, you don't end up repeating what I've already said. ^^

@dusty: That's fine if you don't like it. But, what's not fine is bashing it just because you don't like it. I'm not speaking directly to you (because you haven't downright bashed the idea), but I haven't seen very much "this is neat, I'll utilize this" or "not my cup o' tea, but others might like it. Thanks for adding this feature". I've seen "wow this is stupid. unixmad is stupid. darlene is stupid. blogs on forums? what a stupid idea.".

We are still paying customers. Listening to what we say could, oh god, make the experience more enjoyable for all of us. Maybe..., no, could it? Attract more people because of the user friendly management? Heavens no!

User-friendly management is dependent upon friendly users.

BigBear3 07-22-2008 03:00 AM

Will someone please restore the sanctity of these forums?

No one is really obligated to thank them though... this is a business first, and with a business you have unhappy customers. It goes with it... they have to be able to deal with it, not just delete what they don't like.

You're absolutely right. Nobody is obligated to thank them. It would be nice, though, to acknowledge that you appreciate them doing something nice like that, especially when they did not have to add any new features. It doesn't matter if you like the feature or not. For example: I don't like how Graal5 replaces all previous Graal versions, but I do like that they released Graal5 and the many updates that came with it.

People always fall in to this friendly-unfriendly dichotomy. The customers want "user-friendly service", but they insult the owners while asking for it. It's extremely immature and shows very bad character.

[Again, I'm not speaking solely to you, Dusty.]

Suit yourself. I am sure quite a few people will be able to use them appropriately. It's not really hard.

I can see this working well for graal-related blogging. Can post server development news, personal development or perhaps ideas/concepts and the like. If you want to have a whingefest, go to an actual blogging place. If you're not going to use it then whatever. Just don't ***** about the people who have to moderate it :whatever:

unixmad 07-22-2008 10:50 AM

You are all forgeting that if Forums are free it's mostly because Darlene have supported this idea for long time, also if forums was not moderated like it is by Darlene and Sam i will never have accepted to get more people on them.

So stop your complain about the forum administration team because they are here and will stay and making hundred of threads or messages will not change my decision. So deal with them or leave forums.

I would be honestly surprised if we weren't allowed to discuss this.

Many people have been saying make them free, not just Darlene. You just chose to listen to Darlene.

Great way to lead a business. I see how you managed to turn Graal into a multi-billion dollar business now.

Inverness 07-22-2008 05:52 PM

What we need are those buttons that hide stuff and you can click them to show it. So you could make an xbox-hueg signature but people don't have to see it unless they want to.

We all kept repeating it... he just doesn't listen to us. I guess that's okay... 'cause I mean... we're nobodies, right?
