Uploaded a version with a bit more error handling (and cursor key movement on the gmap) here.

I am already running 0.2.1. I had the same error with 0.2.0, but with less detailed errors (as you mentioned, 0.2.1 has more error handling).

My graphics card is neither uncommon (Name: Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family; Chip Type: GMA 3100; DAC Type: Internal) nor old (2009). My processor is incapable of running a Virtual Machine either, so it's definitely not running in one.

adam 03-22-2010 08:48 PM

Oh, I was running a virtual machine, but I wasn't running it in a Virtual machine.

Fry 03-25-2010 02:11 AM

Made a bunch of fixes regarding editing and loading of gmaps and layers in general. Link's still the same, here.

It's really odd, but I don't think even a newer Intel graphics card lacks the feature it is complaining about, so maybe I'm just doing something wrong when checking for it, so I removed the check for it. Could you try whether it runs now and whether textures display?

I still get an error and a Command Prompt runs in the back reporting:

Trak 03-25-2010 08:17 PM

It won't let me run it :{
When I click to open it I get the same Command Prompt as TSA and an error saying DeleteFile could not be activated file 5 or something.

Look, if you cannot be ****ing bothered to put any goddamn effort into copying the error to the forums I doubt anyone is going to work up the motivation to do the programming effort to help you.

Fry 03-26-2010 01:48 AM

Hm I don't really know what to do for Intel cards, there ought to be a solution to this out there because I bet they have support for this feature, but I don't know how to deal with them at the moment. Going to keep looking though.

Chill out. So what I didn't copy and paste the error?

If you didn't read I had the same error as TSA why is there a need to show the error twice?

So why did you post at all, and try to describe the error, which sounded nothing at all like TSA's screenshot?

So why don't you calm down and try to help him instead of attacking him?

Twinny 04-14-2010 07:08 AM

I've downloaded and compiled boost 1.42 but I'm still failing dependencies. Needing

libboost_filesystem-mt-1_41.so.1.41.0
libboost_system-mt-1_41.so.1.41.0

while I have

/usr/local/lib/libboost_filesystem.so.1.42.0
/usr/local/lib/libboost_system.so.1.42.0

I specified to include all libraries in bootstrap...how do I build the -mt variant of these libraries? Running Ubuntu 64-bit with Lucid repository but downloaded source since repository version is at 1.40 atm

Eh okay, it's been a while, but this version should at least not exit with an error on old graphics cards, but instead will just look really ugly.
That's because apparently Intel cards and really old (<2001) graphics cards don't support textures with a size other than powers of two so the texture has to be rescaled. There's solutions to that so it won't look that bad, but it's all a bit hackish but I'll do it at some point (unless someone else wants to..).

Posted it in the wrong thread at first...

Uhm, with the newest version, I get some weird vertical lines going down the screen, even when I take a screenshot and everything. I'm not using an old card (a GTX 260, actually) but I am currently running Windows 7, which is probably responsible. Any chance of a quick fix for that?

32 or 64 bit? Because I don't get that on 32-bit Windows 7. If you haven't already, you could try updating your drivers.

64-bit. (Surprise, surprise.)

Installed the latest nforce drivers. Works like a charm. :D

Works great on a Mac (so far). Nice work :).

I've been using the latest version of Gonstruct and noticed a few issues.

1) When you right click to copy+drag a tile on any layer above layer 0, it just does a regular drag the first time you do it and you have to move it one tile off and put it back where it was before you can actually copy+drag it away without deleting the tile from that spot.

2) I'm not sure if this is the way Gonstruct is handling layers or if Its a problem with the server, but I am currently using layers and sometimes when I save a level, it'll randomly place a whole bunch of ghost tiles. What I mean is the image of a tile will be there, but it will not block you, even if it is a tile that SHOULD block you. Also when you open up the level, it is not in Gonstruct either, it is only there online. I've tried deleting and reuploading the level and sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I've also tried saving over, updating, reconnecting, restart graal but the only thing that's worked is deleting and reuploading and that doesn't work every time.

3) There are quite a few things missing that I liked in the default editor, such as picking up a tile and holding the left mouse button to drag do a paint-brush like effect and being able to do a right click fill. However I'm guessing those are planned so I'll forget about that.

If you could give me some info on the first two, Itd be much appreciated.
Other than that, I'm really loving the editor and even with the few little glitches and such it is still an editor that is superior to the default in almost every way.

Thanks.

Edit: #2 appears to be a display issue and nothing to do with Gonstruct.

Fry 06-12-2010 07:07 PM

Hey, sorry it took so long to respond. I added the first and third issue to the issue tracker on GitHub, the second looks like one side (Gonstruct or the server) is using a different tileset, as you said. I definitely agree that the tileset dialog is awful, that's one of the things that need work, which I'm probably going to get to at some point in the future, along with the other issues :)

Darklux 06-12-2010 07:22 PM

Could you add a sort of small preselection window? Level editors could add the tiles they need in a level into it and it could maybe open as small window on right click inside the level? :)

Deas_Voice 06-25-2010 10:51 PM

seems like you forgot to add a file, but idk, posted the full "make" part anyhow.

Fry 06-25-2010 11:30 PM

Oh hm looks like you downloaded the tarball and it didn't preserve attributes. You're going to have to make the make_images.rb file executable and install ruby (if you haven't already, but i guess you did, otherwise the configure script should've complained) and then try again.

doesnt make any difference. :\

Fry 06-26-2010 01:10 AM

What does `ruby -vī say? From looking at it again, it appears as if the ruby environment variable is not set so it tries to run make_images.rb as a command instead of running it in ruby. You could try ./configure again and check what it says about ruby.

ruby -v:

ruby 1.8.7 (2010-01-10 patchlevel 249) [i486-linux]
i used ./autogen.sh because i did gitclone, and your github page/readme says so.

Looks exciting, I can't wait to play around with this!

Will this be included in the latest Graal update? Also, does this work online for servers?

Gonstruct is unofficial stand-alone level editor so I doubt it would be picked up as a download package especially since it's not exactly that stable for everyone out of the box.

The (latest Graal update) plan is to have tools go scripted, and running off the Graal engine so the community can contribute and maintain them better. Personally I'm happy about this change since it's a chance to actually re-think how the tools work and improve them.

I don't think they're going be available on initial release of V6 but later on in it's life-cycle.

That has been the plan for like six years by now and never worked.

To the guy who downvoted that post for not doing anything about it, I think with gonstruct I did about as much as can be reasonably expected?? Do you expect me to actively pay money and contribute to some sort of gscript based perpetuation of the whole needing-money-to-contribute-content thing just for the right to be a jerk on the forums?

xXziroXx 07-14-2010 01:20 AM

I'm having the following issue with the latest version, also saw it being posted in the beginning of the thread.

EDIT: Seems posting a YouTube video doesn't work? Here's the URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xY-79Iiu6c

EDIT x2: Apparently there's a 0.2.1 version that there's a link too on page 4 of this thread. I tried it, and it's still happening altough with one difference. The drawing error only happens while you are actively dragging the scroll bar, the moment you release or stop moving it, it displays the level as normal.

Enchanted Wolf XxX 07-14-2010 03:49 AM

First time I launched it, I directed it to my Graal directory.

Second time I launched it, I figured it was automatically directed to Graal, and I ignored it and tried to launch it to a different directory.

Now it's broke.

"Could not start editor: boost::filesystem::basic_directory_iterator constructor: Access is denied: "C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\ Local\Application Data""

I've reinstalled several times.

Does this include RC or just level editor and such (which, of course, can still be used)? The second the scripted RC is shoved down our throats is the second I quit.

Yeah, scripted RC will always be more awful then external one :(

Scripted RC seems like something useful for a non-development staff.. like ET and FAQ.

Idk, I haven't really played with it much.

Non-development staff don't need RC in the first place.

Enchanted Wolf XxX 07-14-2010 04:11 AM

True, but some servers give them out anyways, like UN.

No idea, but that does not really sound like a directory we should be ****ing around with. Probably a bug on our side. Sorry.

I just counted this, and at least 30 to 40 accounts online were staff and their RCs.

As for scripted RC, I'm hoping that Stefan pulls through and makes it not feel like how it is now. It'd be ridiculous to enforce that kind of thing but there other times where I wish I could add scripted specific features to my external RC.
