hmm i could add newbie protection for two hours on first login to Era. within that two hours you can't be hurt or do damage?

Plus, most :noob:'s don't know where to start, and it takes them a while to figure it out, especially if they don't have friends (first time playing). |

I'd say just give them newbie protection until they attack some one, or for 24 hours? That's the thing about newbie protection on Era, it's always been so useless... wasn't it like, 15 minutes when it was first released?
Either way, you can also keep tabs on how much money the player earns, and after they eran a certain amount, disable newbie protection? |

If you're trying to figure out the controls, and know that S might do something ... |

I prefer my last suggestion the most... but that's still a poor reason. The chance that someone is next to someone else and just happens to 'try and find out what S does' and hit them, while having a knife equipped, doesn't seem that probable.

I think era should be more player friendly:
- Tutorials for Jobs and Fighting - Instead of the current mafia families, which are built up by friends of the management or staffs, players should start in one family. The leadership could be determined by elections. There could be a grace bar, like in gta2, and you can work yourself up for better family weapons or ranks; eras nepotism system is very primitive. - Intelligent systems to prevent new resets: resets might be necessary, yet they hurt the game and some people will always loose interest in the game. |

I agree, Era needs some kind of tutorial. |
There's comments about a "Newbie Course" already put together. HoudiniMan had brought up the same thing, once. It offers information about making money, PKing, and getting the player started once they're finished the newbie course. Of course, the course, itself, would be seperate from the gameplay GMAP, and could also include the ability to copylevel so that 2 players would never be in the same Newbie course at the same time, but the course would not be different in any way. I'm sure Andrew could handle something like that, maybe, as far as scripting goes. Pretty sure the levels exist (or should, anyway)

copylevel() for each new player seems like it might be overkill. If nothing else, have a set of 20 or so, and make more as needed. |
In response to the original poster, and not to be rude, but this sounds like someone who just isn't very good at PKing on Era and wants to blame their frustration on the guns other players are using.
There is a player by the name of Mafia Ninja (Starcrafter999) who is an absolute god with handguns, and can pretty much take on any weapon. I myself, can go up against just about anything with an uzi and survive, often victoriously. |

However, the points I outlined are valid. I suppose it is possible to defeat someone with a handgun, however, it takes much more skill than it used to; this is because the weapons are so unbalanced now. |
I must agree with Chris. Icarus, you're pointing out one person. But, about 100 people play Era, 1/100 is good with handguns, isn't that sort of weird?
Also, I think that Era should implement a tax-system for businesses, because business owners make loads of money (Syzmic) and they also add to to the problem. They get guns faster than anyone else, they make more money than anyone else without doing AS much work. Maybe stock a little but thats it. I think that the swear filter should be IMPLEMENTED because Erians need to start behaving. We're literally like the stereo-typical American. I swear, I go on Val. and it's like England. We need to be more like Val in the sense of behaviour. Thanks, Gabriel Rubeus |
