That's all that counts, right?

Because prejudice is a very human thing.
People who are nice to you always get your first thought in any given vote. I voted, in this case, for the person who seemed the nicest, in game and on the forums.
Not everyone has the gift of being happy with lonelyness.

sango_ku 02-18-2008 10:25 PM

Voted :)

And thanks to evryone who vote for me :)

Seeya 02-18-2008 11:13 PM

Romain, you dont have to thank anyone.
We know your going to do an amazing job, and thats why we voted for you.

I don't think it's a case of prejudice, more like a case of people campaigning for votes, but when it comes down to the crux of things are they really more suitable? This entire process is stupid, hirings should be based of an impressive application and talent shown in the trial phase not some stupid vote in; this isn't Big Brother.

55 votes on a server that has an average playercount of 20-odd?

kia345 02-19-2008 01:03 AM

Beside the point, all 4 of them are well known and popular, so it's not so much of a "who's name gets around" contest

Gothika 02-19-2008 01:52 AM

How can I do this without getting hurt :\ your all expecting me to vote for you.. so I'll not vote at all ;) That'll keep me safe.

Ravenblade1979 02-19-2008 02:03 AM

Whats funny is it still comes down to who maroku chooses.

That's what I figured too. ;0

4 Major problems that come with this vote:

1. Anyone who is popular can win. Even a scammer would have a chance.
2. GK has th problem of low player count. A good way to raise it is hosting events for everyone. Unfortunatly there is no EM right now for the PST time zone which is roughly a third of the players on. So a third of the GK population is being ignored, and Im thinking this probably wont change with these results X.x
3. Three of the contenstants are from CP so all the votes from CP will be split in 3 and all of Zormite will go for pat.
4. Anyone can vote. Including people who have no interest in GK.

Seeya 02-19-2008 02:34 AM

Hm.

Im wondering if your only saying this because your losing-

Would you be saying it if you had, say- 25 votes?

Yes he would even i think voting for an Events Master is a bad idea.

SuperCornGuy 02-19-2008 02:56 AM

It's hard, there's populary people running, then there's good people running, then there's Frenchy running. Hard to pic >.>

It may be a bad idea but this is Maroku's way of getting the people to choose. It's not like the winner is automatically going to be EM. He has a trial period where he has to prove that he can do the job.

kia345 02-19-2008 03:22 AM

Is a popularity contest really that bad? It's to see who the players want as an EM, and the player's choice is all that really matters when picking staff that requires no real skill.

Being a good EM requires activity. All the people who are on this poll are active enough to have the capabilities of a decent Events Master.

Nature2 02-19-2008 07:49 AM

ok if like noone likes my methods to choose an event master i stop the voting
and no new event master will be choosen.. is that ok? then its fair?

want no new event master that may be active?
or want event master that are inactive right now? (vacation)

well if i read some more complain about this voting i stop it and the new event master will wait

Wow immature, public player voting is stupid for the many reasons listed in the thread. Take the initiative and pick your staff. FRIENDS DO NOT = ACTIVITY EITHER. Some people just don't get it.. :\

Mousymee 02-19-2008 04:15 PM

everyone thats in that list is there because theyre active players

Dude chill. You don't even play GK.

sage_scooby 02-19-2008 07:11 PM

All four of them would be a good choice for Events Master. I like voting myself, let's people choose who they want. If that person doesn't work out hey the majority chose them.

It's not completely a popularity contest. This poll is open to all of graal. Though maybe it would have been nice to post or link this thread to their apps for the people that don't know them.

There should be an application requiring some degree of creativity and then the applicants should be narrowed down to the amount of places there are open, and those applicants should be placed on a trial phase. You know, like pretty much every other hiring. This thread is stupid, and with the rumor that some people are paying for votes is even worse and makes things even more invalid.

Well said.

Same xD Back when I actually played GK with people like Lylic, Drako and Siwin, I was friends with Pat and he seem(ed)s like a nice guy. I didn't know anyone else on that list so I figured let's vote for Pat.

Playing GK has nothing to do with it. He thinks it's stupid and wants to prove his point. There's nothing wrong with that. I know I've argued with people over things that have no meaning to me simply because their blazing ignorance frustrated me to no end and I wanted them to see logic (everyone has a friend like that x-x).

Lets all calm down.. its just an event master position.

A gorilla could host waterglass, but I think they should have applicated with rp projects instead of this popularity vote...

Maybe you're right but this is Maroku's way of doing it. Don't undermine him.
