That is completely different.

Graal runs at 20 FPS and I doubt that would be enough for a true SSB feel to gameplay.

Though maybe I am setting the bar too high.

I've tried explaining this to people but no one ever understands. It's the same reason why you couldn't replicate a true DDR style game on Graal.

Graal runs at 20fps. Typical console games run at 60fps.

Graal has a 0.05 timeout, which is 1 second / 20 frames.
60fps = 1 second / 60 frames = ~0.015 timeout. A huge difference in accuracy... 1/3 less accurate(I think, I'm terrible at fractions, could be 2/3).

Totally didn't see that coming.

even if it was possible, what characters would you create? what would their moves be? I'm sure you could make a ton of original characters but the game would lose its charm.

DustyPorViva 07-31-2008 09:20 PM

Really though... why? Does anyone honestly think someone on Graal has the skill and time to put towards making this type of server? The amount of perfection needed to make it appealing is huge, or else it'll just flop... especially compared to Smash Bros. itself.

Yeah, more blatant rip-offs. That's exactly what we need.

Seems like nobody has a creative bone in their body these days.

Well there has yet to be an online Zelda... but Smash Bros. is online now... so why try to offer what's already there.

If there are any unique gameplay ideas in there I haven't found them.

excaliber7388 08-01-2008 06:14 AM

Here's one for ya:
Top down
And another:
Side scrolling
Oh, another:
Isometric
And here we go:
Turn based

Seriously, the graal engine is powerful enough to do all of those. People with servers are just too lazy to try anything new.

Funny, since I can say the same thing about Val. How's all that awesome roleplay going? I bet the NPCs for that are truly works of staggering genius.
