They can be taught. ;) The baes's large feet carry a device that strongly increases waters surface tension along with propelling you slightly with gusts of air to keep you from falling into the water. Thus these devices feet being so large. They also carry a sonogram in the body part of the baes that cleverly warns off all large predators. Eg. Those large fish I was talking about

Personally I have yet to hear a better idea involving them. They're useless; they don't do anything. They can't attack and you don't really move any faster when you're in one anyway. I could see them running across water from island to island if we added something to bump up the speed. It might seem odd at first but everyone would get used to it.

Adding a dead idea for the sake of adding a dead idea isn't smart. The baes were some reject project that never got around to being finished. They don't look like the kind of things to walk about on water, no matter how much you try and dress up an explanation.

A hovercraft would be more suited to crossing water than walking mechanisms that aren't even animated properly.

Something like a Higgins boat would be hot. Fit like, 10 people on each and it just heads straight to an island and crashes on shore.

Alright. So we need a new water traveling device? Hmm. I guess a hovercraft like huwa suggested unless someone else has a better idea? Baes can be used to walk on lava! Joking

Maybe a hovercraft where you can push people off when you're over the water. It'd be awesome to have a melee fight and then knock someone off the boat and they drop into the water, dying.

The BAES was made for the bomys back in 2001, but it also fits for the Kingdoms/Zone characters. For Zone I had the idea to use it as something like the jetpack, giving some protection when moving but using more energy than jetpack for flying.

The idea for this new planet sounds good, but it must be planned more (layout of the overworld, of the caves etc.)

heres an idea... why dont the baes fly over water? i could see that. its drifting forward quickly as rockets blast from its feet.
