moving on. I wasnt too happy about the arches having 7 lines, too low poly, so i am rounding them off. in order to do this i have to create an object to fit in the cut i took out, thus filling it, then i have to create an ellipse and substract it from the objects. You'll see what i mean.

Little fact :
You may notice older games having less lines in their shapes. The less lines these shapes have, the less poly count it has. Older games have a lower polycount because systems weren't powerful enough to render. The more polygons a shape has, needless to say the smoother it is.
With new graphics cards MB size doubling approximately every 18 months, graphics are becoming more and more amazing, with the release of xbox 360 and such spearheading the popularity of them. Needless to say, the need for detail is substantial now, so whether your starting out or are a pro graphics artist, on order to survive, you have to work with detail.

the language at the top is in welsh, it sounds a lot like elvish, but it says "Beginning of the tower" as i shall log this forum thread for my As Design and technology work. Comes in handy :-)

outside in. I am using boolean to substract any materials inside the cathedral so i can replace them without having any nasty bsp cuts. Also my hard drive has kicked the old bucket over the past 3 - 4 days, so forgive my absence. I've invested in a larger hard drive (355gb) so i should be back up and running tonight. Im posting from a schools computer at the moment, and the forums dont seem to work on my fathers pc in the house.. any ways i could solve this you think? Either ways ive backed everything up (luckily) and shall post an update shortly.

Internet Explorer.. but so does the schools. I wanna get him to use firefox but he isnt having any of it. he is basically a grade A.. erm... you can slot in the next word, if you want. Hard drive came. Its good.. but i need a different primary, because my 122gb maxtor doesnt boot up as a primary, so ive had to set it to slave, and i have an 8gb primary, so its extremely slow..

Are you getting those numbers from how much you have remaining after Windows takes off a chunk?
