Too bad Graals 3D engine is archaic at best From what I can tell it only supports diffuse maps (and probably doesn't allow custom shaders) and doesn't seem to support very many polys. (Probably doesn't have fancy features like ray tracing either)

This makes me almost want to make a 3D server.

Looks nice, good job. Graal 3D would have been neat.

You have to remember that pretty much ALL MMO's are going to not feature the same graphics as even older PC games. There is just too much to display on a variable level(how many NPC/baddies can the player pile up in one spot, how many players in one area?) that offline games have way more control over.

I know of one that's around the qualifications. Though the game to me isn't very good.

Wouldn't most DS games count? They're low-poly because of their limitations... the only aspect I might say otherwise is the textures, but typically if a developer is smart they'll make the textures as pixel-art to make the texture files smaller and such to run more efficiently. Animal crossing is an example of one of those games that uses 32x32 blocks of pixels its textures(as well as letting players make their own). Again, though, I'm not sure if it's pixel art or not.

I'm comparing to MMO's. Including ones that are like 10 years old.

I know it's a little off topic, but it would be pretty nice if someone could list a few good goods with images for each as examples.

I'm interested to know how applicable the style is, and in extension, how potentially successful.

Afaik, the 3D engine was replaced to work on iPhone/iPod/iPad. Might be better than the old one.

It would be fun to try this on a DS, but so would the normal 2d graal. So I would like this to be a computer game tbh. Just my oppinion though.
Btw, I think the polycount on my character is about 1/3 of the one that was in the Graal3D.

And leaving for the weekend, so I won't be able to work on this untill monday.

Until it either supports bump/normal mapping and things like that or using your own shaders, I won't be impressed. ;(
