Well, I am trying to develop a shading technique now. And, it is a lot harder than I though . I posted an example of what I have but I don't like either one really.

btw, I am using MS Paint.

sorry for double posting :X

It's quite simple really, you just select your color, select another a slightly higher shade, then repeat the process, smoothing out the bumps!

Well.... maybe it's not that simple. I've never understood how I came to do well.

Let's compare, shall we? Take my first bomy, for example: Nero. Crap shading.
Take my last bomy (so far): Zal. Big difference.

So, I guess it just takes some practice, eh?

Practice? Definately, but I wouldn't know where to begin.

When shading, basicly think real life.

First look at a couple of objects, and see how light shines onto an object and casts a shadow onto the object.

If you have light coming from the top, shade under the object and under anything that limbs out from the "torso" or main object.

I use MS Paint for all my pixel art too.

Easy to use, until it comes to LARGE pictures, which becomes a hassle. Anyways, all I us in paint, is zoom x 8 then paintbrush smallest size, then draw away.

Yes... I must agree. I work well with small pixel graphics, such as icons and yeah.......

Big stuff is a stumbling block however.... and right now I'm working on something to help me get over it... so... yay?
