Playing around

I've been messing with Gonstruct more and more lately, and I think my levels are improving somewhat. Any opinions on these levels? (In the second level, NW2PNG wouldn't move the bushes 0.5 tiles to the left for some reason although there was a script in there that moves them)

They seem very basic and lack content. You also need to watch the colors from a distance, I see too much red on the first level and the second level looks like brown and red, which aren't very lovely colors alone together. In small levels it's not as noticable but in large levels, such as the ones you posted, it becomes unattractive.

Specifically, the second level shows stairs. Since the stairs lead to an upstairs room, the walls should display the height increase accordingly.

Huh? If you walk up a set of stairs, the portion of the wall visible to you doesn't get taller (unless the upstairs happens to have a higher ceiling).

These levels are boring, they are quite predictable and empty. The first level is way to symmetric and the second one is getting better but still once again lacks purpose, features too much repetition and the walls don't quite work in my opinion.

A few tips, when creating a level is to give it a purpose, only make it as big as it needs to be and keep ideas and shapes fresh.

I kinda understand what MattKan means by the perception being out - but cbk is right is saying it's not the wall size that's the problem. The connections of the 'roof' border needs to be changed to do this instead. They shouldn't be joining is they are on different levels.

This isn't a 1920's cartoon, they won't have a face and come to life.
