it is French and if my years of french study are good it is Pronounced Grail with a french accent so it may be derived with ah sound, although it sounds more to me like "ale".

I have a feeling this thread can last a long time.
Better that it does rather than starting a new one every 3 months.
Also, someone once reported Stefan saying "grawl" is as close as you can get. Kind of a weird answer... and I didn't see Stefan himself comment on it... so who knows?
Just remember: it's not English. You don't pronounce writing in other languages in English if it's not in English. The confusion is that "Graal" is written similarly to "Grail". Don't let this confuse you. If "Grail" in another language were "Fruid" (I made up a word... i think), and Stefan decided to call this game "Fruid", why would you pronounce "Fruid" as "Grail"?
That's my logic here.

Weren't they called "graals"? I'm pretty sure the game is called "Graal"
I go to www.graalonline.com
Never tried www.grailonline.com (EDIT: HOLY.....!!!!! IT WORKS!!! but I still see "Graal" written all over the site)
My client says "Graal", not "Grail"
Never seen anyone spell the game's name as Grail

The question is "how do you pronounce Graal", rather than "How do you translate Graal?"

Go to any translator and translate from English to French, Grail. The way to say grail in French is Graal. ;]

Okay, so "Grail" in french is "Graal"
We're making progress.

Now for the important part, how do you pronounce the "aa" in "Graal" when saying "Graal" in French?

Is it like English's A in "Angel", "fail", and "gingerale"?

Or is more like English's "A" and "O" in "Fall", "doll, and "ball"?

Or is it like how we say "bell", "tell", and "fell"?

I can't think of anything else that's possible.

My point is, no matter where you are or what language you're speaking "Graal" should only have 1-pronunciation. If it's French, it should be pronounced in it's French pronunciation even if you're speaking English UNLESS it is renamed/translated to Grail.

Does it matter? If the game was named Grail it would be ***. Grawl would be ***. Graal, is pure win.
