Since I figure a lot of people don't have high-end programs like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro, I'll make a small tutorial on transparenting images with MS Paint and
giffy.
First,
download giffy and put all the given files into one folder. I suggest making a
Giffy folder and putting it in your
My Documents area.
Step 1 Make your head/body/shield/weapon/whatever, and save it in the
24-bit Bitmap format (.bmp/.dib). Make sure the background color is different from every other color in your image.
Here's the image I made.
Notice the background color (the color around the initial image) is different from every color in the image. This is essential!
Step 2 Open the image with giffy. Follow these directions:
1) Run GiFFY.exe in the folder you saved giffy to
2) Click
Load BMP when the program opens, and select your image (you should now see your image in giffy)
3) Check the
Transparent box under GIF options so it's on
4) Click your background color. You should see the background color in a small box under the
Transparent checkbox
5) Click
Save GIF and save your image somewhere
Step 3 Your image is now ready to be uploaded! If you wish to post it on the forums, you can upload it to
imageshack.
