The Pat's D is definately rebuilding right now, so calling the Pats a SB "lock" is far-fetched at this point.
Honestly if the Ravens had some better WRs, I'd call them one of the favorites in the AFC despite the loss of Bart Scott and Rex Ryan. Flacco can only get better, the O-line and RBs are above average, and the D is still tough.
My SB picks:
NFC: Falcons or Cowboys
AFC: Ravens or Chargers
Yes, I'm a homer. But the Boys have three solid RBs, the best TE in the league, and a solid D. If Romo can finally not duck it up in december, the Boys will not only win their first playoff game in over a decade, they might just win it all! Besides, the last time the Cowboys opened a new stadium (71,) they won the super bowl. Have you seen the new stadium? It's epicly awesome. The scoreboard is like 70 yards long. And yes, I've been in there for a game (specifically, my old high school was playing in the first HS game in the new stadium.)
Falcons O might be the best in the league if turner can produce like he did last year, and if "Matty Ice" continues to improve on his impressive rookie season. The D is still a question, but if the falcons can control the clock and keep things from a shootout (might be tough against the Saints,) they are definately a tough team.
Ravens I've talked about earlier. Chargers are always up-n-down during the season, but turn it on for the playoffs. If they can get a consistent running game, and the D continues to get pressure (with Merriman coming back,) they can easily make another run like last year.
Those are my thoughts. The Giants have a great D but the WRs suck and Eli has more 3+ int games than Jay Cutler + Jake Delhomme combined (for now.) The Eagles O-line is still banged up, as is McNabb. Garcia could keep the team in contention (assuming he plays eventually, as they just signed him,) but I just hate the eagles too much to pick them.

You analyze sports like those douchebags on espn. All you needed to do was throw in the word "intangibles" a few times and you're in.
It's week one. Start talking about teams that look good enough to make it to the superbowl around week 6-7. |
