To be honest, I'm not sure I call three people collaborating on a single spar system progress. One of them could complete it in, like, an hour, without any problems.

Just my two cents..

Please don't try to knock these high-quality developers, they must make sure there is no bugs in typing 'sparringzone' in an npc.

I think it's quite obvious he didn't mean that all of the developers are working on a spar system .

I'm not trying to bash you guys, but the app is going off in the wrong direction, and sparring is fairly awkward on the iPhone. People want content, and sparring is almost exactly the same as PKing. They won't look twice at it. Give them a tutorial, give them direction.

And you've also seen projects such as Era iPhone spring up. I don't have RC or client access to Classic iPhone, so I don't know about any of the development going on there, but I know that there's more going on with Graal iPhone than a spar system.

Yeah, I know about Era iPhone, however irrelevant that is to Classic iPhone, but the sentence, if you read it, it sounds like you're all working on a spar system z_z

Why are all the scripters and talented devs on Graal so pompous now? It makes me feel like I have to be a **** in order to be taken seriously.

I don't quite understand why you are working on the Era Iphone, don't want to be rude or anything, i'm just worried that if people start making their own little projects now, these players will disappear. I understand if you are so eager to show your work to the public, but as im reading through this thread it seems like Graal Classic still needs your help.

Christ, those players in the center must be laggy as all Hell, unless they're in a separate level and just moving about through NPCs.

Just went into the spar arena. Must say I'm pretty impressed with how the interface works out and how smooth the whole affair worked out. Good job, guys

It would be better if it was a bit more linear for players. Make it a single hallway leading to the arena, or maybe two arenas, and make it a nopk zone in the entrance hallways, because it's kind of annoying to see people fighting outside.

Still waiting on tailor commands, though!

It's not bad at all due to the update and the auto-focus since it doesn't have to draw all those players.

Edit: Yeah that was the plan, need to move the spawn points so they aren't warped in front of the doorway when the spar is over.

EDIT: Also, it would be cool if you did the separate level thing. I just played in a room with a bunch of people, and it got quite slow.. But my ratio is still 17 : 7, so I'm happy with that :]

Surely only the clientside bytecode, though, right? And what's stopping you from removing them anyway?

And what are the current business plans as far as me hosting my own playerworld?

Seems like it, and we could remove them but this is probably an idea/feature that needs to be run by Stefan first.

It'll probably just end up becoming a server option, iphoneenabled=true or something.

Developers don't really have to change their ways at all just:

- Limit yourself to a screen resolution of 480 by 320
- Make things more mouse driven
- Use if (player.platform == "iphone") where necessary.

Pretty sure iPhone doesn't use anything like mouse controls. Can't the iPhone register multiple touches(more than one mouse)? I have no idea how Graal handles that.

Also, it's been said before but you need to rely heavily on the serverside, so you don't bog down the CPU with clientside loops and processes.

It would be very possible to add an iPhone Testbed with no security-issues, right now it's only enabled for certain iPhones though to be allowed to navigate to other servers.

Not really sure how it should be added (like we can't just give everyone access to testbed on iPhone), would probably need some sort of actual plan to do a server and a dev team because we can't just let everyone go to other servers because the other servers aren't optimized enough for the iPhone and could make the game look bad.

Weapons only stay with the client that are added on classic iphone, same for login servers on Graal. It's basically the first server you log into, you keep the weapons you get there.

This game is evil.

I went to bed at 10:30 PM two nights ago so I could wake up and be alert for a track meet at 6:00 AM. I turned on my iPhone and decided to have a quick PKing spree.

...

The PKing spree turned into a sparring spree and turned into a social hour with some people in game. I was lying in bed, awake, playing this God forsaken game, until 3:00 AM..

Running at the meet on 3 hours of sleep and a God awful headache, no doubt from staring at the screen, I screw over the entire 4 by 8 relay team and run a 2:32, then I screw over myself over in the 800 and run a 2:30.

Later that day, right after the meet ends, I'm sitting on a rail talking to some people. They leave, only thing left for me to do is leave. I take out my iPhone to call in a ride, battery's dead. Had to walk home in 10 degree weather in a track sweats, still cold as ****.

Damn you. Damn you, Graal. Why must you be so fun and addicting?

Can I get access? I'm a capable scripter. I want to experiment, see if the iPhone is a platform worth my time, see how capable it is of running GS2 on the client and stress-testing it's rendering prowess, etc.

Isn't it possible to use the fantastic tilt function from iPhone? Another thing could be to make a character move by whisking on the screen.

Yes, so Stefan need to add something like this. If they want to have a good game they need to work for it and not just take things from the pc game and put it on iPhone.

Theres a bug with the Sparring Arena.. if you die, and you join a spar immediately (while the gani dead is on anyway), you can use bombs etc.
