Dynamic stuff like calendar and news should be in the client. In my opinion the website should be more about advertising and have a big download button. May be the playerlist in v6 could be expanded to also be an event hub or so.

the current website makes me think this game is going to install malware on my computer.

i don't know why you guys changed stuff you had right a long time ago.

it's nice to see game updates on the front page of the website. it tells new people that the game is alive and actually has an active community.

He probably would prefer a self sufficient website that doesn't require any additional effort placed into it after its creation. It's understandable, because there's a lot of different areas on Graal that need attention already and not an awful amount of trust is placed in people having some control over them. However, it's in parallel to what the current community itself, and potential future communities, are looking for in an MMO's website.

Completely agree - although to clarify "advertise" isn't big flashy banners, but information and "calls to action" to interest potential players.

I have to agree with Rufus that people aren't stupid. They don't need constant advertisements and "WE HAVE THIS AND WE HAVE THAT" thrown in their face and a huge download button in order to gain interest, if that even works. They need something more dynamic and real -- something that can interest them. I mean, a quick download button I'm not against, but I don't like the idea of the website being nothing but a huge ad.

I mean really, the current website seems to be taking the exact direction you say the website should take(nothing but advertisements and huge PLAY NOW buttons), but apparently that doesn't seem to be something that is being accepted as a good decision. Let the actual content hook the players, which I guess isn't ideal with Graal's current condition.

Yes, exactly. It should be fast and easy to download the game and start playing!

I think you may be taking what Stefan is saying a little too seriously, I don't think he wants just a ton of advertisements slammed into your face, but rather a website that just advertises the game and makes it easily accessible to download the client.

This is quite funny because in the article it says itself that
NPC Code:
Visual hierarchy is used in page design to help the viewer process information. The hierarchy can be used in several dimension, such as color, contrast, texture, shape, position, orientation and size.

Keyword there is HELP. I don't believe "What I've seen, cannot be unseen" is help in any sort of way?

I agree with this. A static website with no obvious updates or happenings/events is just not what I'm looking for when trying a new game. Especially when it's community based. Just look at WoW's site. It has news on the first page, and it's still advertising the game.

Also, if someone is already at your site, chances are they're curious in the game... at least, enough to check it out. And if they've made their way to your website, and the website is easy to navigate then I don't think anyone would be bothered by going to an information page to get the actual info on the game. At least that's how I navigate game sites.

So, what is the progress on this "project"? Who are working on it? Who is planning it? Is the GDT involved?

Right now, several different teams of people are working on the project to come up with a decent template. There are a few very promising ones, some have me very excited and I can't wait to show them to the rest of you guys.

Some of the teams have asked that I do not share them right now though, so I am respecting this until they are ready.

I just hope some old features come back, like viewing peoples profiles on the graal website, yet seeing extra things, like what guild that person is in, ect ect.

I kinda like the current website however there's alot of things that would need changed/added. I can actually see a very promising look for the site if just a few minor changes were made :o

Tho I support anyone who wants to make anything better.

A new website would attract someone temporarily, and a Subscription/Trial Mode will lose ALL interest that the newcomer might of had.

If I were to make changes to the current website. I would definitely pick 1 theme. I would make the video for the game show random servers, only I would prefer live video of the actual servers if there's anything interesting that can be shown

I don't understand why the navigation is all weird like this o_o. and I would like to see something like calendars with events from servers, and I do like seeing updats from server. Maybe this can be shown in a nice way on top of how the site is.

I remember reading in an earlier post that graal doesnt push developing. If I remember correctly the "player worlds" page had information about creating your own world or something. I think something more along "Graal Play it. Create it. Live it." haha

But dunno I am just as excited to see what other people have to show

So how is this going? Because I agree this would make a difference at least a little, but if someone had one done, no reason for me to even start.

Well unless this developed by a professional web developer (or someone capable of that kind of work) it's chances of actually getting used are next to nil, so the time spent on that would be better spent on improving/developing the actual game.

Not to repeat the past question that's been on everyone's mind for the past 4-5 years but... How necessarily?

I'm a bit late to this party but I would absolutely love to see a new and improved site. I'm assuming someone's already started working on it? I still remember when the site got this change. I think it took me like 30+ minutes to figure out how to navigate the thing. And even then, it took a few weeks before i actually figured out how the whole thing was laid out. Honestly, I'm in no way suprised to hear that our current site is adversely affecting the business. And on that note, personally, I dont think the different subscription types ever helped with the disorientation either. I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if i ever learned that more than a handful of first-timers accidentally bought kingdoms/zone subscriptions instead of playerworld subscriptions or vice-versa. Assuming they didnt give up after getting lost in the first place.

When will the players of graal notice that no effort done by any player can antagonize the substantial management fails (or lets rather say: lacking attention by management)?

The whole game needs a new concept - not a new website.

Both wouldn't hurt to be honest. If your site looks like a game for that of disney and you try to sell an RPG that looks nothing like it, How will you sell your product if its not shown in the right spot?

This will never happen unless a large amount of people quit the game, everyone seems to just be sticking around for the community, or whatever else.

I would hope its obvious to everyone that the management of the game are extremely interested in making money, rather than making updates.

Again I state, why the hell do players have to pay to develope for this game? It makes no sense to me, its like a restuarant paying you to eat their dinner, pretty unlogical huh?

Lets say that most everyone quit the game today, it could go one of two ways:

1. Could be a wake up call, and the owner lowers prices, performs updates, etc.

2. He would just cut the losses and forget about the PC version of the game.

I don't bother pointing fingers at Stefan anymore. The community is just as useless as Stefan is. Seriously, no one can finish a server worth **** anymore... people are just looking for something new to complain about these days.

Since when is it the job of the community to make the game? Developers aren't even supported. Heck, the last client release was in October of 2007.

Agreed. If they would simply focus on developing the game (updates, real staff [no offense], ect) then they WOULD probably make more money, drag in more players, ect. One of the nice things about paying for an online game is the game's staff constantly updating it. On the topic of community developers, it is reasonable if you want to make a server to pay for it. Its not reasonable for that to be the only REAL thing to do on an entire mmo.

I heard that they're making a new website for the Summer (possibly to go with the client release like last time?) taking advantage of the features in HTML4, or at least I think that's what was said. I don't know anything else though.
