Ok, the gui (compare to the background) looks really bad. There's something else that looks wrong that I can't put my finger on. The tiny, tiny details on the walls are darkend too much, I think. It looks blurred, or something close to that.

Agreed. No doubt blurred, but nothing wrong with that. Bloo cat did a superb job with blurring.

Which makes me wonder how they put it all together. I mean, is everything a seperate graphic? The pillar alone has 256 or more colors in it. I thought tilesets were limited to 256 colors.

addtiledef2 could get it done.

Also, the new engine allows for 24bit images, so there is no harm done with them using more colors.

I mean, if a light effect is applied to a tile, a screenshot of it would look as if there were far more colours than there actually were... ?

here is an outside screenshot...some bugs need worked out, but that can be solved easily

All I can say is

I know I could never generate images with that level of detail. But, then again I'm not going for that kind of look on Doragon.
