Well, what I've been trying to say is that I don't think you'd be able to make a server that would receive an M rating if rated by ESRB.

Now really, why would a guy watch a bunch of girls while hidden from view if sex wasn't an excuse?

Of course! Sex in video games is wrong, but promoting pedophilia is perfectly fine!

You can easily make 'realistic' gore and violence in a 2D game. It just depends on how well you do the art.

Era has, or was planning to have, a blood effect that put blood on your surroundings after you see it coming out of you from being shot that I didn't like as PWA as it was a little graphic and unnecessary.

Sure, it's not THAT realistic (the gore), but neither is it adding much to gameplay, so I don't see the point.

Eye-candy.

If people like seeing blood spraying over walls then let them enable the feature and it just gives them more reason to like Era.

They're simply trying to become more educated so they can get their doctorate in medical studies.

Well, I'm yet to see it made. Unless it's going to be way out of proportion, 16x16 to 32x32 is the size you get, I think you could probably just get some red dots of different colors ...

I would agree that a classic server should stay below what is now being called an 'M' rating, especially one that is played so much. Still, those graphics were just little red dots.

Why should classic servers have to stay "friendly" in terms of content? I don't get the big deal as to why people are so regulating on this stuff... if they have a disclaimer then what's the big deal?

Also... why do you have this firm believe that blood in 3D is more realistic than blood in 2D? In the end, they're both just made of pixels. One just happens to be in an extra dimension... which doesn't even matter since blood in 3D is always flat. You can take the blood texture from any 3D game and put it in a 2D game and it's still the same. It's all about how you perceive it.

Well, I'd give it a go. It probably won't be a whole PW project, just a little side project. Like, maybe you start out on the basement and you have to get to the helicopter on the roof.

It's not just that it's 2D. Someone, seriously, make me a 16x16 image of gore ...

You do realize that the textures for gore in 3D game are actually images? Back before the 2nd gen of 3D gaming(PSX, N64... think Resident Evil 2), most of the textures were around that size(well, actually, around 32x32). Games like RE2 were considered very mature for their blood and gore.

Don't forget that effects on graal can exceed that specification. Like a spray of blood up a wall can stretch to many 16n by 16n pixels. Like, say (if this was full scripted and stuff), you threw a grenade at someone and, maybe using some sort of scripted gib engine, launched limbs in all direction and splattered blood where ever these limbs touched... now, I'd say that was pretty gory. Also, the brain also gets a splatter of pink.
