Actually I was not going to respond again because I knew Scott was getting banned.
The fact is, when using somebody elses work to make your own, it is OK as long as they are given proper credit (and in the case of gfx: permission if possible). I had good reason to suspect that Scott was intentionally leaving out the fact that he copied the character exactly from somebody elses work, even the shading pattern is mimiced.
Loriel, if you'll notice, in the same post I had stated Scott had committed plagiarism, I was talking about claiming written work as your own immediately before that. I was making reference to that example, connecting the two ideas. Besides, the meaning is close enough to what actually happened.
When he first came to the community (or whenever it was that I first became aware of him in the community), he was only a web gfx artist really, and was caught presenting works of art as his own from other places on the web. I received a complaint via AIM from another user and sent me 2 links to compare. Except in this case he wasnt attempting to replicate another peice of work, he didnt even edit it.
My original intention was not to start an argument, but I wanted to point out to him that he needed to clarify -- And when he wouldnt, I did it for him.
There is no excuse.
