Also, unrelated to this particular newsletter, if spammers include links to images in their spam mails, they can use their webserver's logs to figure out wether your email address is actually valid

So I can subscribe to a plain-text mailing list seperately kept from the html mailing, or will you send the html version to me no matter what?
In case you are going to use anything other than XHTML 1.1, I hope you use the STRICT variant.

It's not like it's a huge amount of data. It's not gonna clog anybody's connection.

Expectations are irrelevant. Plain text is ugly and often difficult to read. The HTML version is way better.

Uh-huh. Might as well crusade for a plain text version of the forums too, then

Im glad this is finally getting done, I have like signed up for about... 10 trial accounts when I needed to test things over time and all the time it says

´Would you like to recive the graalonline news letter´´

So im happy to see its getting done. Anyhow... Im on a timed internet cafe, im not going to read all of it. And I think it would be better with alot of player input. But editors of course. I want to help out though, so Angel contact me when im home.

I believe that post shows how good your English literature skills are.

It's unneeded. By stripping the forum main page of all html tags, I got it to ~1/5 of its original size. Imagine what this means for a longer newsletter.

People are paying for this service, they should receive what they expect, no?
What is ugly about plain black text on white background? That is easier to read than confusing colours and whatever other markup one might come up with.

A forum is different from a newsletter.

And I haven really read it all, as I have one WHOLE min left on this internet cafe, which is crap. Anyhow I agree with whoever wants HTML newsletters, it would be alot better.

Is 5KB significantly worse than 1KB? It's all gonna download in under a second anyway.

?

I expect Graal Kingdoms to have distinct, none-overlapping classes. Does that mean they have to edit it just for me?

It's too linear, there's no structure. It's fine for books where you're supposed to read from start to end in a straight line, but magazines require pictures and structure because there might be more than one article on a page.

So? The same feeble arguments apply.

On another topic: The problem with opening up the newsletter to the public is that most players can't type for beans and it's not always easy to edit their waffle into a readable format. We can edit it, sure, but we'd be rewording huge sections of their articles, effectively writing it ourselves.

Maybe have strict guidelines to follow when creating articles...if they don't meet the criteria then they don't go in the letter.

Meh, I would prefer a plain text newsletter too.

Although, I guess it depends on what Angel has in mind for the newsletter. It sounds like it is planned to be bigger than I thought.

Arguably, a plain text e-mail can look organized or whatever, without any sort of html... Although I'd prefer the html style myself... see here is an example of formatting text for a text e-mail:

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Graal Newsletter
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
I. Section 1
II. Section 2
III. Section 3
IV. Section 4
V. Section 5

-----------------------
I. Section 1
-----------------------
Stuff here

-----------------------
II. Section 2
-----------------------
Stuff here

etc

I dont as Scalper continues to remind me i have nothing to prove you because your not worth my time nor anyone on graal's.
