If I came back to Graal, I request only three things! Those three things will be listed at the end of this message.. but first, you must read this story:
:::Story of Bomies:::
A while back, I had an idea to create animals that could not only walk around Graal and in between levels, but they would also be hosted in a special server, otherwise known as "A-sector". It would be several months before Stefan would actually complete this server.
In the mean time, in August of 2000, I had created the first Bomy-bopot graphic. Searching desperately for someone to script the movement of this creature as an animal, I found a player known as Kyle0654.
Seeing some of his other works, I knew he would be the one to make this into what I was looking for. So, as quickly as I found him, I proposed to him the "scripting" position of this animal in early September 2000. In return, he received 50% credit of the creature.
Staring at my 18 sprites of the original bomy (birce), we "brainstormed" some rather interesting behaviors for the bomy. Things such as, "What would it do if it was in water?", "if it was hit?", "if it was being attacked?", "low on health?", "walking behaviors?", "in its shell?", and so on.
Little did we know it would take 6months to complete its behaviors.
Discussing things about the bomy and making up stories (such as the spawn of the Zalactic Labs era) to complete its history, Kyle decided not to make the bomy as an animal..
So, angered at this, I quickly turned to the next best person I found, Darkman.
Remembering who made the puffers that blew air out of theirs mouths to "fly" around, I asked Darkman to script the animal part of the bomies.. and he did. He scripted it so well that it became the framework for the original bomy pets -- which were enormously edited by Stefan.
Forgetting about Kyle's earlier mention of a human-morph-into-bomy, I was surprised to find Kyle still working on "something" with the bomies.
He approached me one day and sent me the first demo to the morph. I was extremely (!!!!) surprised once again. At this time, me and Stefan were still working on Graal2001 (secretly), and the Graal engine that Kyle was using (v1.4) was very less advanced. A morph in this version that worked as good as the demo to the bomies was almost impossible to make.
I took my Birce and fled to graal 2001 (known as "new main" at that time). Introducing the bomy morph Kyle had started, I immediately started listing bugs and features that needed to be added to the EXE.
Later on, when me and Kyle were thinking up ideas and behaviors and what needed to be added to the bomy-morph, Kyle showed me the "second" bomy ever made (which was his) -- Skitz.
At this, we played with the idea of bomy "races" (or species) and created two more:
Nira and Naifets
I originally started Nira with a lot of color and detail to it. However, when Kyle made the front and back view to Nira, it didn't quite match my original side views... so he remade the side views and I colored it all in. Then, after I had designed a shell with wavy spikes on it like a mohawk, Kyle made a new bomy which we named Naifets for Stefan. So, we decided to start adding in things such as bomb power, health, and eating.
At this point, I started talking to Gonmon (who I previously found and contacted after seeing some of his drawings). I didn't know yet if he could make graphics good or not, however, I asked him to make a bomy of his own -- which he ended up making as Nero.
With my planned Graal Halloween party, we had an idea to show up to the party as bomy-bopots (for our costume). When testing the bomies first online, we found many bugs. This led to many more advancements in the Graal exe (new main).
When it came time for New Main to be released within a month, we handed the bomy-morph script over to Stefan to be what it is today.
Races take a lot of work to create... which is why there are currently only two.
So, my requests for coming are:
1) Someone, preferably Tyhm AND Kyle, will work on a new race with me.
2) Antora lands to be extended.
3) Stefan must take time out of all these levels he makes to do the finishings on the new race.
If you look at the map attached to this message, you will notice that the orangish-gold levels are all the current Antora lands.
The blue levels are the places that I wish to become part of Antora Lands. |
