Everything is dis-organized. There is no communication between past staff and current staff. (Which there really needs to be)
Whether it be by documentation in scripts, text files in the levels folder, anything really.

What documentation there is, its either not enough, or so poorly detailed, it might as well not be there.
This isn't just me speaking...I've talked with plenty of people who have tried to do work there.
On RC one day, we were trying to figure out how many gani files were on the server...I can't remember the exact number, but it was high...very high...literally thousands and thousand and thousands of ganis.

The number of weapons, npcs, and classes is unnerving. If you want to scripting something, but want to use preexisting functions from another system...good luck finding it.

Which brings me to another point: Redundant scripting.
A scripter will come on, want to make something, and without even thinking about it, create a system that already exists.
Then someone else comes along, and wants to use this system...but now, theres two different systems that accomplish the same thing...which one do you use? They might both be used in different scripts.

So, you can either figure out how they both work and choose the better one, or do what they did....create another system for your specific use. Now we have three systems that accomplish the same goal.

An example of this would be EP. I'm not even sure how EP works on the server, tbh. It is stored in about three different npcs and databases...a new scripter would never be able to tell which one to use. And if they end up using the wrong one, that could lead to unlogged EP transactions, and angry players.

This disorganization is not limited to scripts...the countless levels folders are ridiculous as well.
Multiple copies of levels in various places, entire unused gmaps, hundreds of blank test levels...

In order for anything to be done on UN, a lot of things need to happen...major re-scripting...
Simple organization of levels, heads, bodies, and other folders would help so much.
And all the useless weapons and npcs that are not used need to be removed.
For what it's worth, these are some of the main reasons we decided to wipe Classic and rebuild it from scratch, I'm not making any suggestion as to whether this is what UN needs to consider as it's far from a dead server and so would probably be pretty drastic, but I can imagine from my own experience how extremely difficult and complicated it must be to Develop the server.

I've suggested and suggested that for the "new" UN that they start with a blank server and remake stuff as they go through and see fit. Instead they keep telling me it's better to copy it over and go through the mess and erase as it's needed. *shrug*

UN needs to be revamped (from a development standpoint) because many of it's practices are old and outdated in a lot of cases, and piling on new **** does not help one bit and only makes the problem worse.

I think the following should be done to make UN better:

1) Management, listen to what the players have to say.
2) Make a new, smaller gmap. The current gmap is just big and pointless. I think if you made a smaller one, bringing over buildings like the Ghetto Burger and some areas like TC it would good. The development team could focus on adding lots of content to this new gmap. Keep it small so there will be more players per square mile.
3) Remove the old houses and guild houses. For all the inactive guilds and players who don't play, I think their houses could be removed. It's kinda pointless having a huge gmap full of nothing but houses that nobody ever goes to. Of course, move over the guild houses for active guilds and player houses for players that still play often to the new gmap.
4) Quests. I think quests could be revisited. The new gmap could have areas like The Forest, The Desert, etc. and those new places could be used in quests as well as hangout areas WITH THINGS TO DO. (I'm thinking something like a zelda map, but at the same time it would need to be it's own island, not Zelda-y, and with several "side quests" as opposed to big major story lines. I think any storyline at all should be discouraged if quests are decided to be used, though I think building quests would add fun to the server. (I think mini-quests, like Zheak's quest from NPulse would be great.
5) Events... I think more events could be added for more fun. That should definitely not be the main focus, however. I suggest you focus on getting an ETA as soon as possible! (guz!!!!).
6) More weapons: I think that more NPC weapons should be added. I love the variety of NPCs on the server already, and (in my opinion) that is one of the things that makes UN UN. Make some shops around this new gmap and sell these creations in it

UN would be a lot better, in my opinion anyways, if all those things were taken into consideration. I think that people DO like UN, and lots of people hope (though might not have hopes) that steps will be taken to make UN more fun. The point is, no matter what people say, people still play UN and there is hope left

Also, I think that if a current manager is failing to complete his or her job and is basically doing nothing for the server, he or she should be removed, and a new manager should be appointed who can be trusted to work hard- and I must say it's a stretch for people to say that there is nobody like his on Graal...

I think there would be a lot of scamming with the mentor type thing... I could get on show someone 5 things and tell them that is basically most of the server right now, and the new person could rate me ?5/5

Not that I know where even one thing is and I have a lot x.x; I'd say possibly have a help button but someone may use it over and over warping people constantly to themselves.. But it sounds like once the mentor is done, so is the option to get help.. and it may take more then only one person to help someone..The idea sounds nice but starts to get vague..

I'd say perhaps older players could have this option too, but then people could use it one each other just for the item points that come along with it for helping..

It sounds like you really want to help the server, but I feel it could/would be misused... But I like where your head is at. :]

Love the idea but, what if no "mentors" are online at the time. Will that means the new players will be losing out on the system?

Countless people have attempted to make UN better countless times, all to no avail.
The problem stretches far beyond the current staff, far beyond the past managers.
It is difficult to develop on Unholy Nation. Just ask any dev who has ever worked there.

Just to clarify, i'm not bashing UN...i'm not going to sit here and say 'lol un sux, it shud die'.
But that doesn't mean its perfect...these things need to change. If they don't, I just can't see a bright future for Unholy Nation.
That was a tldr; until i realized you just hit enter after every sentence then it was bearable.

No one enjoys UN's style anymore, it's just dull and boring. Hence why no one PKs, or spar.
UN has been the same for almost 10years, and as far as I can see, nothing will change. Let it die to make room for a new server.
