The reason for fighting puppets, is, a chance. A chance for what though? I'll go really wild here, and just guess, even though you didn't ask for us to do that (yet anyways) - a chance to rule the world as a puppet master, instead of fighting as a puppet.

The Puppet Master works alone. Facing my puppets is only one phase of my tests. The chance that we will get, involves that of speed at first, but perhaps it will become more. Only a few of my children will gain this chance at a time -- a chance to prove yourself worthy through greatness.

What could possibly be that to attain greatness? Perhaps this is a chapter for another day.

The Puppet Master controls everything.

That's still has a different feel to it than what the Puppet Master would say. Also, the real PM always capitalises the first letters of puppet and master ;D
